Not sure if any would like to know what's gone on this morning but here you go if you're interested. I work in Charlotte everyday. My particular jobsite is at the Epicentre as we're building a hotel on top of the existing structure.
Here's a few things I've seen and heard:
Most places of business aren't open today. Those that are open are closing at 3:30 to ensure everyone gets out of the city before dark.
"BLM" & "BLACK LIVES MATTER" is spray painted all throughout the city on walls, cars, signs, etc.
I've never seen so much broken glass. Windows on shops & bars and car windows are shattered all over the place. There is a clean up crew who's sole purpose today is walking around leaf blowing glass off of sidewalks.
Police are everywhere. Especially in the epicenter area where the majority of the mayhem happened last night. They are just parked throughout the area sitting in their cars.
The shop that I posted pictures of is just a little general store on trade street under Epicentre. I go here everyday to get a drink. The owners are the nicest people you'd ever meet. I feel terrible for them. The store is completely empty and the shelves and fridges are destroyed.
Uptown Charlotte looks like a natural disaster happened. Tons and I mean tons of clean up crews are all around the city.
Public places are legitimately being boarded up to keep the public out because more "protests" are expected tonight. That's sickening. Instead of fixing what was destroyed last night, they are just putting band aids over it because they expect more to be destroyed tonight. Most places are closing well before dark to ensure everyone is out of the city by dark. All the cops and guard people I saw and spoke to told us to make sure we were gone by dark.
Pray for Charlotte and all of us innocent people here that are just trying to make a living.

It will continue until they start arresting people in mass. In this political correct society that we now live in, the protesters know nothing will be done to them so they keep on destroying property and stealing. Nothing but street thugs that are being showcased by the extreme liberal media.

Sad to say, but that where we are at. No matter the offense taking place. This is the "trigger" that was discussed on this board recently. They could pull back like the Chicago police have and let them have their way. Might be how you handle this.

are NOT THE SAME AS LOOTING, BURNING CARS, ATTACKING INNOCENT PEOPLE IN PARKING GARAGES AND TRYING TO THROW SOMEONE INTO A FIRE ON THE STREET.
You can try to rationalize and defend the indefensible, but it doesn't turn a lie into truth. And it doesn't give animals who have no respect for law and order the right to further lawlessness.

I agree but what option do plover have have at this point? Put yourself in the captains shoes? What does he tell his officers, but sit there and take it?

As soon as violence and destruction starts take them down, rubber bullets, that sonar thing for riot control anyone left goes to jail.
This keeps happening because the police do nothing. Those guys last night are prob from all over; not Charlotte. As soon as police put one of these things down the sooner they stop.
Allow protest but peaceful only; destroy someone else's property or threaten a life; end it, marshall law, plain and simple... All lives matter

You're right. A few of my coworkers were at the Epicentre last night while this was going on. Somehow they found out or heard there was a large number of people from places like NYC & DC

They need to try to keep the protest as a protest instead of it going to violence.
The people committing violence are not there to protect. They are 100% there to commit violence.
There is nothing wrong with protesting.

Our founding fathers certainly thought that would be the case from time to time, in order to protect this form of government. A civil war in Germany in about 1933 would have been a lot better for millions of innocent people in this world than WWII, those who paid the price for the kind of cowardice you are espousing.
In this country we have millions of ignorant, violent sheep who are being manipulated by the truly evil with a false narrative, the goal of which is civil unrest and disruption. Where this is all going is pretty clear to anyone who's paid any attention to history.
Like I said, if we let the animals take control and trust Hill and Bill to "fix it", the greatness of this nation will be at an end. I wish these idiots would find a better country where they have better opportunity and better law enforcement and GET OUT, FOR GOOD!!! Spare me the lies and the fables about "oppression" and rampant racism.

Closing down a highway disrupts the ability to function in society, just like a cyber-attack or an attack on the power grid would do. Terrorism doesn't necessarily have to be limited to murder.

I've been to Uptown Charlotte many times and always felt safe. A couple days ago I was even thinking about taking my new girlfriend on a date uptown via the light rail. Doubt I'll ever consider that again.
How about the Dilworth area is it still safe?

I lived in Charlotte from 1995 until moving to SC in 2014. Charlotte is a total mess after a lot of p[eople worked very hard to build it up. There is no question that either or both BofA or The Stagecoach Bank will leave there in due time. They cannot have that dump as their national headquarters and \when that happens the city ind cooked. Realestate values will collapse, the tax base will be reduced, jobs will be scare,. unemployment will rise dramatically, etc./etc.
The Black population there is 35% but yet they commit approx. 60% of the felonies. What's not to understand? They drop pout of school, can't get as job and then blame white racism for their problems. Furthermore, the Democrat Party has taken their vote for granted for over 50 years, fed them handouts to buy their votes and have done virtually nothing for the black population. Sure, they opened pour Southern borders so what few entry level jobs would go too Mexicans, not Blacks. Until the blacks start to take responsibility for their own actions and plight in life, things will continue downward.
The answer is to reduce the Black illegitimate birth rate, get Blacks to reduce their rate of committing crimes, Blacks stay in school, obey police when they tell you to do something, etc.etc. THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE but until Blacks take responsibility for their own actions, nothing will change.
