CBS Sports be crayyyyyyyyyyyy-zeeeeeeeeeeee

Dec 20, 2019, 9:54 AM

So CBS Sports writes an article online with the headline of:

National Signing Day: Nebraska, Tennessee top winners, Florida leads losers in early signing period 2019
https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/national-signing-day-nebraska-tennessee-top-winners-florida-leads-losers-in-early-signing-period-2019/

But when you read it.. the next winner is UscJR???????
It hinged on one player. ONE GUY!!!! Well actually two sort of.
And here is a nugget:
"South Carolina could do nothing else the rest of the day, and that still is a win. Fortunately, Burch wasn't the only good news as the Gamecocks also added four-star jumbo athlete Jaheim Bell as a bonus."

I would think that Clemson would be a winner "hands down" for early signing day with 5+ 5=stars and signing the No. 1, No. 3, No. 13 and No. 16 overall players in the Class of 2020.

Does the S in CBS stand for SEC?

It would appear that their approach is, "the teams with the worst players needed anybody they could get, so they were obviously the biggest winners if they signed a few decent players".

I think this is correct...

They didn't mention other top teams either (except for a couple in the losers).

There is a media problem as evidenced by our players being left off awards lists, but we also have to recognize that a Clemson-fatigue is developing for fans who aren't as fortunate as us.

Meh, who cares? We all know who the real winner is. The rich keep on getting richer

I actually don't have a problem with them not including us as one of the winners of the early signing day. We did get the biggest haul of anyone, but all but one of those guys was already committed and expected to sign. Malcolm Greene was the only new commit from Wednesday.

From what I read, Greene wasn't the only recruit to switch from LSU on the Wednesday. They also lost 5 star WR Rakim Jarrett to Maryland at the last minute. They went from contending for a top 1 or 2 recruiting class to #5.

Dang, they also lost 4 star WR Jermaine Burton on Wednesday to Georgia. I can't imagine losing three committed players on the early signing day, especially with them being a 5 star and two 4 stars. Imagine losing your top two prospects at one position at the last minute like that. Both of those WR were top 8 at their position, and top 52 nationally.

The headline is misleading, but it seems they were focusing on signing day surprises - unknown commitments and flips.

I think they literally meant signing day itself

We got one commit.
