The book has little to do about politics, but points out the tendency for people to choose delusional thinking over accepting uncomfortable truths, and that the scientific method is the only solution forward for humanity. He does not bash religion, yet embraces the positive aspects of its impact on morality, but cautions us not to hold it in the same place as science. The book also paints a historical perspective on how we have witnessed this same ebb and flow, and rise and fall of civilizations throughout history. He spends a lot of time examining the dark ages, it is a fascinating read. He also mentions several times that you should treat every unsubstantiated or undocumented claim like a used car salesman.

of a divine creator, so convincingly so that the entire world was brought to the same common belief, they would win the Nobel prize, and just about every other award imaginable. History would remember them as THE most influential figure in all of recorded civilization, so bullshit on your claim.
Science does NOT discount the idea of a divine creator, or god, it just lacks the evidence. Astrophysicists and cosmologists like Sagan devote their entire lives attempting to make sense of our existence, however, they lack the arrogance to claim that they have the answers, religion however does.

Religion is just another form of science in disguise which attempts to explain an inherent truth by means of fallible concepts conjured up through insufficient knowledge.
You can probably give me a definition of truth, but the scientific method cannot prove it.

that would be what Sagan referred to as pseudo science. Science is a method employing mathematics as its language. It relies on accepted truths, or facts to make further assumptions. Religion had us to believe that the earth was the center of the Universe, Capurnicous and Galileo were tortured in their dungeons for suggesting otherwise, by none other than religion. Science eventually proved them right, and their observations were deemed true, and eventually accepted by most religious institutions. Had science not persisted, we would still be living in the dark ages where superstitions and myth, or religion, rules human consciousness.

Heck, I get a lot of things right, so do you...and Tony Fauci...and SCIENCE!

Balm, rarely do I agree your philosophical posts, but F an A on this one! That Sagan's prescience cannot be denied is almost as impressive as the fact that he wrote that many words while employing but a single period.

I've posted this quote before.
He is basically foreshadowing the dumbcrats. With a career working around the government, I can definitely see a difference now compared to the decade before, and before that. Bureaucrats (mostly dems majoring in whatever is easy) are making decisions that have little-to-no knowledge about the domain they are in.
You dumbcrats love big and dumb gubment. It's a pity. You love social media with the 22 year old fact checkers that ufcking know nothing themselves. You love the 144 character explanation of, well, everything. The woke crowd: "Let's get together this weekend, smoke some pot, and have a hack-a-thon to write the next Microsoft Word. It's all so easy, and we are so smart." Sorry folks, only works this way in the liberal echo chamber, not in the real world.
