It was time after the worst season in modern day Clemson baseball history last year. At this point, it’s a matter of the longer you wait, the longer it’ll take to rebuild it. This is 100% on whoever in the A.D. department decided to say FU#k Clemson Baseball

That would be Dan Radakovich goaded on by Clemson fans who predominantly had little interest in baseball but just couldn’t deal with sCar being better at us than something and desperately needed a scapegoat.

So true actually. I've been watching a good bit of college baseball, in addition to our games, mostly other ACC games and a few SEC b12 games. We just don't have the Jimmy and Joes. Or at least not enough of them, and sadly that's on the skipper. As in basketball, there's a slight advantage private schools have in baseball schollys just as there is a slight advantage in basketball as to a school's location but plenty of other schools have skippers that overcome the odds.
Look no further than Dabo. It can be done, or overcome. So yes, both baseball and basketball need new skippers. Anyone saying otherwise is either lying to themselves or just want to argue.

So you think Dabo taking over a program which had won a Natty in modern times, won multiple conference championships and major bowl victories is is the same as CBB taking over a basketball program which has been in the cellar of the ACC for a hundred years? Really? I just don’t think I can help you understand the difference assuming you actually believe the words you typed

We will certainly never know if we don't try to hire a better coach. We could have just left Tommy Bowden as head coach and averaged 8 wins per year for the last 14 years.

There is no correlation between Tommy Bowden and Jack Leggett. Tommy Bowden never made won so much as a division title. If you fire a Hall of Famer with one of the best coaching trees in the business you better have a plan. Ours was hope that a CofC coach who never made it out of a Super Regional take the helm just because he’d done some time at good ole UofSC. It should have been abhorrent to any Clemson fan but group think took over and this is what it gets you. I understood the urge to move on from Jack but it should have only been done for someone with championship experience, not to play roulette.

Yes, there's not a doubt in my mind had Dabo been hired as either our basketball or baseball coach, he'd have built us into a championship caliber team.
@Pig said it better - don't know until you try. And it matters not what the "reasons" are, it's on coach to build a winning program.

Clemson hadn’t so much won the division since their creation. None of those things you cite meant anything to the state of the program when Dabo took over. We were losing division and conference titles to teams like Boston College and Wake Forest when Dabo took over. Our basketball team had spent more weeks ranked in the AP top 25 in the three seasons prior to Brownell taking over than the football team had when Dabo took over. Wrap your head around that. Brownell took over a program on healthier footing despite your constant insistence on our mediocrity. It’s simply not true but everyone thinks they’re entitled to their own facts now. Coaching matters. Dabo is one of the best ever. Leggett was great. Brownell is mediocre. And Lee is absolutely terrible. That’s the hierarchy.

After The Masters concluded yesterday afternoon I flipped it over to Miami & UVA baseball. The amount of separation between those 2 teams, and what coach Lee runs out onto the field every week is glaring. Both of those squads have good pitching, disciplined hitters, clean mechanics on the infield, and are aggressive on the bases. Sadly we have not seen any of that from a Clemson team in far too long.

I watched it too. Couldn't agree more, and I respect your posts because you're not one to be a negative nellie like I can be. You also seem to know your baseball. I wouldn't be as down if it was just one thing, but we're not even competitive.

My wife dragged me to Miami so I carried my son to the Miami UVA game last night. Those teams were solid all the way around and the excitement around the teams is different. We used to have that and hope to again soon. Last night was a great game though.

Glad you guys went. No such thing as a bad baseball game to attend. We live in Amarillo and the city has a minor league club The Sod Poodles (A sod poodle is a prairie dog. Very high plains, I know). We go to as many games as we can make it to. My company has tickets right by the first base dugout. Logan Davidson was the short stop on one of the teams we played last season. My son is 9 yo and wears his Clemson hat to every game. Logan saw his hat and made it a point to come talk to him. He even signed it for him.

The best way to describe Lee’s club is “highschoolish”. By highschoolish I mean there seems to be a guy or 2 every game that shines, but it’s rarely the same guy game to game and the ones that don’t, well they just don’t.
There’s talent on the team, but baseball, especially beyond high school, requires a full on team effort. Trust each other. This bunch doesn’t do that. There’s also a lot to be said for the old saying “just put it in play” when you’re at the plate. Putting it in plays pressures the defense. Lee’s teams swing for the fence and the number of strikeouts per outing are indicative of that.
Here’s to hoping he can turn it around. I can’t say if I like coach Lee or not, never met the guy, but I’m not all that fond of the results currently. I’ll keep watching though.

What's that now... 6 straight ACC series losses. That is totally unacceptable, and everyone on here knows it. I don't care if it's because of recruiting, coaching, facilities, weather, administration, fans, etc... it still is the coach's ultimate responsibility to win games, and Monte ain't doing it. Clemson can do better than this.

Can we send Monte and Brownell to Miami? I bet D-rad misses his old coaches.
