"ALL IN" Article in Wall Street Journal

|
Looks like just about everyone is copying us now. The article mentions Clemson and Dabo, but makes it sound like Auburn started it first:
"Walk into any college locker room and you'll likely see "No Excuses" or something similar. Or you'll see "All In." Auburn adopted the slogan four years ago. You can read all about that in former coach Gene Chizik's book, titled "All In: What It Takes to Be the Best." Clemson is also "All In," and head coach Dabo Swinney's foundation is named "Dabo's All In Team.""
Yeah, Auburn "adopted" it four years ago. Why not point out the more relevant fact: Clemson started it almost 6 years ago - in 2008. Where do they think Auburn "adopted" it from?

I'll be willing to bet there is no mention of the NCAA enforcement director, the SEC office staff, ESPN, and the local media being "All-In" in the Cam Newton pay-for-play coverup.

I attended the Clemson - Auburn game in 2010 in Auburn. Their fans held up signs saying "All In" and, honestly, I thought they were mocking us.

Clemson is where traditions originate not where they are copied. Mention Death Valley and give them sumbiches a history lesson.

You posted Auburn's entire argument, and it's wrong

That t-shirt argument comes from the site below. This website tried to make the case that Auburn started the tradition and their evidence is that they found this one random t-shirt that was printed by an apparel store in Auburn for one game in 2005. Finding ONE t-shirt with that slogan is very different than a team using that phrase. Chizik had no clue that t-shirt had ever existed when he started using ALL IN in 2010.
Read the evidence from their perspective and see what you think: http://www.warblogle.com/2012/08/29/football/proof-that-auburn-was-all-in-before-clemson-ever-was/

And put the date of a football game from 2001!? Then we can put this ridiculous "I found an old tshirt argument" to bed

So it's a conspiracy? Sorry if I don't think someone went so far as completely designing a tshirt and having it printed to prove it.

I'm not sure you're understanding what he's saying

It's not that he thinks the shirt isn't real, it's that it simply doesn't matter that an apparel shop printed a shirt with the slogan for a specific game in 2005 if the team wasn't also using it as a slogan. Just producing a shirt with "all in" on it is meaningless.

it's not like dabo coined the phrase.."all in" is - and has been for all of my 60 years - an oft-used phrase for all kinds of stuff..worry about something that matters.

Hard to say who actually was the 1st when it is so close...

Too close to call as with LSU's Death Valley and ours. 40 years or so is just too close to call. Hmm, seems the concept of time escapes those in the SEC. Not just you coots.

All in was being used in Poker 200 years ago. I doubt Dabo or Cheese Stick originated it.
