Can of Worms

Sep 26, 2018, 10:39 AM

It seems to me that the coaching staff opened up a can of worms here that just was not necessary at all. We could win every game on the schedule doing exactly what we were doing the last 4 games and not caused any internal issues. The QB play could have been dictated based on the defense of the opponent vs. the skill set of each QB and we would have stronger for it. Don't get me wrong we have a good head coach and a great staff but I think they made a mistake here. Sometimes doing NOTHING is the best choice.

Sure, I see no reason to not play offense for an entire qtr

I disagree.

This coaching staff gave Kelly Bryant every chance and advantage to keep his starting role. He didn't take advantage of the opportunities he was given and lost the starting job. The offense has struggled most of the time that Kelly Bryant has been in the game in the four games this year, with the exception of the Texas A&M game.

If Kelly Bryant was determined to transfer if he lost his starting role, he should just leave, wish the team the best and chart his course elsewhere to try to make it to the next level. To say publicly that he wasn't treated fairly is a garbage move and unfair (and untrue).

I was in Atlanta Saturday and it was clear to me (and I think most folks that watched the game) that under Kelly Bryant's direction our offense wasn't going anywhere against a very weak Georgia Tech defense. Thirteen yards on two series against that defense is horrific.

Character is shown in times of adversity, and if the quote that is attributed to Kelly Bryant in the Greenville News is really what he says, then he is not the person I thought he was.

Go Tigers!

Dabo and every coach talks about playing an athlete based on their performance each week. They were correct in accessing the situation at QB. Kelly Bryant appears to not have the right stuff to compete for playing time at Clemson. He was never given the keys to the position for every week. He has disappointed his team and his coaches. We as fans are immaterial to his decision and comment as we access the situation. Best of luck to him but quitting on his team will always haunt a future that questions his decisions.

Dabo can't let a player's potential reaction stop him...

from operating how he feels is right. He's made a move like this before, and he will again before his long career with us is over. It wouldn't be right to sell the kids on competition, have others at their positions lose their spots on the depth chart, and then ignore the obvious in regards to Kelly because he might leave.

None of us like how this is down, but life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you react to it. Kelly has made the choice to react like this, so let's hold him accountable for it, and not Dabo.
