His sophomore season is a complete loss. Lee has done nothing but screw up a talented player. Right now his handling of breaking balls and changeups is worse than Teodosio. Why would any promising HS kid who’s on the fence between college and signing a pro contract ever consider Clemson with the way Lee has messed up talented hitters.

It appears that Monte likes the long ball and prefers his hitters to strive to hit them, hence the high number of strikeouts and high fly balls every game. French is a prime example. Drops his shoulder and upper cuts at every at bat. Lots of mile high pop outs on the infield as well as strikeouts. Not much different with Grice.

As frustrating as it is to watch, Monte is the HC and if that’s what he’s willing to live or die by, that’s what we get to watch (or not).

Well Grice has 4 homers and a zillion strikeouts chasing pitches that have no chance of being hit out of the park. They don’t throw him fastballs unless a pitcher is struggling with his breaking ball. Hence, he doesn’t do well in the ACC games. It’s downright painful to watch.

I certainly can’t argue against you on that one.

I have Clemson / Wake playing on my phone and TAMU / UGA on the Tv. These 2 games are night and day different. Both TAMU and UGA consistently have good at bats and put the bat on the ball to pressure the defense. Score to that one is 12-9. Lots of runs on lots of hits and a few HR that came from just being disciplined and putting a good swing on the ball. Go figure

Clemson doesn’t develop players and I know this from a coach I coach legion with whose friends with a player and coach who was with monte.
