Re: Cade Mays....

Dec 13, 2017, 5:53 PM

UT AD Fulmer and new HBC Pruitt spent 4hrs today at Cade Mays' school. A little birdie told me that now "he has some things to think about". TIFWIW.

My question for anyone with the answer-

Does Dabo still have an in-home left with Mays? I think he does.

Is an AD allowed to recruit off campus? I thought only coaches could do that.

Re: Cade Mays....

Dec 13, 2017, 6:00 PM

Not sure, but there is a news article that states he did, and the high school Twitter account tweeted it as well.

Guess we may find out the legality of it soon.

Didn't know the AD could make recruiting visits ?

Dec 13, 2017, 5:57 PM

Too little too late. Mays wouldn't schedule a home visit with them, so in a last ditch effort, they went to his school ?LOL

Dabo still has his in-home visit. I've heard different planned dates though. I think he will be wearing orange with a tiger paw :)

Fulmer Micromanaging

Found This Info - Not Sure if it is current

Noncoaching Staff Members – Impermissible and Permissible Activities:
IMPERMISSIBLE:
A: Recruiting
1. May not make or receive telephone calls to or from an unsigned prospect (or the prospect’s parents,
legal guardians or coaches). No prospect-related recruiting calls in or out for any reason. [13.1.3.4.1].
2. May not recruit or evaluate prospects off campus, or talk with prospect’s coaches, parents or legal
guardians about prospects off-campus or on the phone.
3. If prospects or coaches or prospect’s family members / legal guardians / handlers / representatives call a
football administrative assistant, he/she should end the call immediately and request that they call a
countable coach. Transferring the call is acceptable, but passing on the cellphone is not advised.
4. Noncoaching staff members may not meet off-campus with, or go off-campus with, any high school or
junior college football coach.
5. The relationships that were previously established with football prospects and anyone associated with
such prospects (family, coaches, etc) change once noncoaching staff employment at a NCAA D1
institution begins.

Got to admit it would be hilarious if fulmer committed a recruiting violation

Dec 13, 2017, 6:36 PM

Within 2 weeks of taking the job. If he doesn’t know not to do that there are lots of other things he doesn’t know. He may be worse than Currie

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

he's passed the NCAA recruiting test, whatever that is.

committing recruiting violations and then turning-in other programs to the NCAA for doing the exact same things he was doing (friggin' hypocrite).

You can't teach an old blue tick hound dog new tricks so why would he change now.

He can recruit off campus as an AD until the new coaching staff is full. Its legal

Re: Cade Mays....

Dec 13, 2017, 6:10 PM

What's he got to think about?

That Pruitt is a hard-drinking, skirt-chasing hothead who can't get along with anybody and stands a real good chance of being Lane Kiffin Part Deux, minus the really creative offensive playcalling?

That Phil Fulmer is already bending - or maybe even outright breaking - the rules on AD's contact with recruits, since the AD is not a coach and is certainly not allowed to be out on the trail like an extra coach? Careful, Phil. People remember your antics the last time you were at UT.

That Tennessee managed to finish 4-8 - good for dead-last in the godawful SEC Least - and looked comically bad at times? Or that they're losing a heap of seniors and transfers even off that train wreck and have just 11 dudes committed (only one of whom is a four-star or higher), good for the #53 recruiting class in the nation headed into mid-December?

How about the fact that the last 5-star OT the Vols got - left tackle Trey Smith - got beaten down, kicked in the head, and put in concussion protocol after an altercation at practice at the hands of another teammate?

How about the fact that Tennessee ranked 124th out of 129 teams - just five places from dead-last! - in total offense this past year, achieving less than 300 yards per game. (291.1!) That's some futility, there, tells you they're pretty much terrible everywhere.

Yes, young Cade has a great many things to contemplate. Namely, how many miles he cares to put between himself and that particular dumpster fire.

Re: Cade Mays....

Dec 13, 2017, 8:27 PM [ in reply to Re: Cade Mays.... ]

exactly. in football, you can have your 9 assts and the HC recruiting off campus. In football, it is the 3 assts and the HC. If your staff is not "full", another staff member can recruit off campus when/if approved by the NCAA. last spring/summer between the dismissal of mike wineki 9(sp?) and the hiring of antonio reyonlds dean, we had director of ops lucas mccay recruiting off campus. perfectly legal for fulmer to fill one of the vacant recruiting slots.

Hmm, a perennial title contender with an established, respected staff vs. an absolute trainwreck of a program with an unproven, defense-first HC?

Re: They spent 4 hours at his school??

Dec 13, 2017, 9:22 PM

That ran through my mind as well. They just hijacked all schoolwork for the day. Seems pretty desperate and selfish. They are currently trying to get him to delay his decision so that they will have more time to pressure him. How honorable.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Fat Phil and company better stop worrying about Cade Mays

Dec 13, 2017, 9:47 PM

and worry about the few commits they currently have. Looks like two 2018 QB recruits decomitted from Tennessee today...

http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/21761951/tennessee-volunteers-lose-qb-prospect-adrian-martinez-nebraska-cornhuskers-michael-penix-decommits

New AD, new coach same dumpster fire. I imagine Cade Mays is smart enough to realize Tennessee is a total mess right now and at this point is the place where those recruits with fewer options will go. If Cade Mays wants a shot at a National Championship ring in the next four years, then he will run away from the Vols as fast as humanly possible.

Is that a fact? Sam Pittman has been with Cade much of today as well. To the point of actually sitting in class with him.
