Cade is doing just fine and DJ has not just

improved, he has very much improved.
DJ's accuracy has improved a lot, his composure in the pocket and decision making regarding run, or not run has also gotten much better. In my opinion, he is really starting to come on.
Cade was not a disappointment Saturday night in the least. He was in for about four series. While the team did not score, he is not the reason. First of all, he is playing with second team line and receivers. In spite of that, he had two pretty completions, one for a first down, and ran for a great first down for about nine yards. He showed an ability to get to the corner and turn up. He also had another run for a first down, but there was a holding call that brought it back. According to the announcers, the hold was the right call, but it did not affect the play at all. It was away from the play. He also had to scramble on many occasions, one in which he scrambled a great distance and then made a nice pass to the hands of the receiver, but the receiver was just a step out of bounds. I think Cade is going to be a great one. He should not be starting over DJ at this time and that is rather obvious. It seemed everything fell apart when he came in and that is far from the case. He had no control over the fact that subs were in on defense and giving up scores. Therefore every time he and his backup line and receivers didn't score, La Tech did score.
I would like to see Cade come in and at least get one series with the number ones before they leave the game. And leave the one defense in to help maintain the lead and get better field position. I know we want experience foe everyone and to avoid injuries to starters. I understand that. As for DJ, the improvement is now very noticeable. Please keep it going in the right direction.
The defense was undermanned, especially in the secondary. Still they had three picks. We could have beaten Louisiana Tech 55-13, or 55-6 easily. Not worried about the score.

The coaches are going

To use DJ the entire season as the starter but they also will give The freshman enough playing time to be considered ready for next season. Klubnik will have a lot of snaps in different situations this season so when spring ball begins next year he will be far above the curve. Moving up to be the starter will be much easier with a full season under his belt as the backup who has played in every situation. I’m sure coach Swinney thinks this is best for the program and I agree. It’s important that both guys remain healthy however. I also believe that the coaches realize that the receivers need extra work too.
The Wake game is really a biggie and hopefully the good guys will bring their best to Winston. See you all Saturday!

Question. When Dabo says in the presser DJ was "hot" and responsible for the sack, what does he mean? Probably a simple explanation.

I don't know the play that we're talking about, but my guess is that he is referencing the DJ had a "hot read" to make. An unblocked man that DJ has to read. Not a missed block, but a guy that he should recognize as a likely rusher and know that is not going to get picked up if he comes...either by design or in reaction to what the defense is presenting.
Up to DJ to do what he needs to do to not take the sack. His responsibility.
i could be wrong, tho

I think he means that DJ was feeling himself, playing “hot,” and got caught up trying to make a big play and keep it up instead of running or getting rid of the ball
