The lack of uniformity in NIL rules has enabled some schools to directly assist athletes. The trend is growing, and it could impact congressional and court decisions about the NCAA.
I would love to read one of the Texas AM contracts that purportedly exists with some of their new signees. I want to see how they crafted the language that only pays the athlete while he is at ATM while not violating the section of Texas’ NIL law that prohibits NIL compensation in exchange for athletic performance or attendance at a school. Their law also prohibits athletes from signing a K before enrolling or use of NIL $ to induce enrollment.
