Buying tickets outside stadium?

Sep 30, 2016, 12:29 AM

Hi guys, so I get the chance to go to a few Clemson games every year, but when I do, I always have tickets in advance. I'm coming up on Saturday but currently don't have any tickets for the game.

I just want some pointers as to how to buy tickets outside the stadium. Is there a better time to do it? A good spot to find sellers?

TIA and Go Tigers!

I've done this several times. Believe it or not. I got my tickets to Orange Bowl and to Natty on gamedays. (Yes, I flew to Arizona even though I didn't have tickets in hand.)

Many times, I find it all about luck.

Keep checking Craigslist and eBay. Don't waste time with sellers who live in another state. The timeframe to get it in the mail has passed. (If you rush it as you have only one day to ship, chance of getting scammed is higher.) For those who live not too far from the stadium, you can always pick them up. Several times, I picked up tickets in Greenville or Easley on my way from Pennsylvania.

I usually check only those who are owner:

If you're alone and don't mind West End Zone (I usually do unless it's high up in the corner), there is one for $100 right now.

At the stadium, there is no good time in particular. Fans want to get rid off their extra tickets and get in as soon as they can. Not a lot of fans want to get stuck with unused/unsold tickets. On the other hand, you don't want to be left stranded when the game is about to start.

If you're not sure if you could get some, buy the first one when offered at a reasonable price. You can always resell them when you get better seats. I do this all the time as I want to be in the best seats as I can.

Keep checking Craigslist even when you're at the stadium. Someone will still try to sell.

Make yourself present. Don't get shy. Raise your hand up showing that you want a ticket.

It doesn't matter if you stand or walk. Just make sure that you go through a lot of fans. If most stand still, you walk. If they walk, you can stand still.

I have yet failed to get tickets or failed to sell the extras I got, but I deem myself to have a lot of experiences finding, buying and selling tickets. Not that it'd be easy though.

P.S. If you happen to get extra tickets, sell to Clemson fans if you can. I always do this. (Well, except at Orange Bowl last year, I sold to a scalper as they paid me more than some fans who kept lowballing me.)

Usually lots of folks selling outside gate 5. Good luck.

That was a good response. I asked the exact same question a couple weeks ago.
What I learned is make sure if you buy at the stadium that you buy from someone who looks like a legit fan. Some have been burned because they bought real tickets but the bar code had already been sold to stub hub, where you get a printable ticket. So if you buy from some dude who looks like a scalper you never know.

one more bit of advice, walk through the parking lots where

the higher IPTAY donors park (the closest ones around the stadium), they may have extras that are the better seats and they're not trying to make a buck.

I agree with what everyone has said. The other thing I would add is the closer it gets to kickoff the more of the upper hand you have as a buyer because that piece of paper they have become worthless after the game. It can be risky but generally the best deals I've ever got scalping are right before a game. And that is to any event. I've never had issues getting tickets to a Clemson game.
