What if you worked your rear end off for 2 or 3 years

Aug 2, 2019, 7:49 PM

in the Clemson football program and felt like this is finally your big chance and all your hard work may pay off with a lot of playing time! Oh yeah!!!!
Then, suddenly a coot transfers in a MONTH before opening kickoff and is herded to the front of the line!!!! ????

Yep...kinda like life...

And the new guy comes in off the street and you're relegated to proving yourself...more.

Welcome. To. Life.

Seniority is a tie-breaker, but it doesn't trump talent.

Exactly!
People who never played team sports or were in the military or who never worked on a team at work for significant amounts of time - won't understand - chemistry!
TF sounds good to the gamecock fans! But, what about Dowdle and whoever else they have at RB(Dowdle is the only one I remember and I am not googling anything gamecock). What happens when the line who has been busting butt with those other RB's now have to "let TF eat"! How will they feel? If they are okay with it; how long will it be if the other RB's aren't ok with it before they have their friends feeling the same way?
It would be totally different if the kid had sat out a year and been around these guys and worked his tail off with them all off season. But, desperate the gamecocks are.
I know at my job - if someone was just given a position over people who have been there - "there are problems and less production suddenly"! Because everyone feels for that person and wonders, "dang, it happened to them and they allowed it, I might be next"!

It may not go as he is thinking is all I am saying! If it does, "count me as somewhat shocked"!

Exactly, and if I was a prospect, player or parent of one, I would lose some faith/trust in the coach or staff.

Imagine having faith and trust in Muschamp.
Imagine being that dense.

IN TF's latest statement on Tigernet, I read the words "me", "myself" and "I' at least ten times. Oh and "I'm not doing this for the fans". He's in the right place. Kudos to Dabo for handling it in a first class manner.

I faced this type of thing in business several times as I changed jobs throughout my long career. It's the same thing. Lots of people that were there 10-20 years watched me waltz in and make more $$$ than they were making. It's REALITY. As you get older, you will watch it happen to YOU. You had better start determining how you plan to deal with it. It happens to a lot of people who do not want to move away from their comfort zone. Life is NOT always fair (if anyone can actually define "fair").

Orange Lightning You Are Correct!

Ironically - this actually helps TF case a bit. As soon as someone is smarter, more willing, more able, more dedicated, etc. you get replaced in business! There is "NO LOYALTY" anymore to "tenure"!

All that said, "TF still handled this wrong"! You say, "hey Travis is the more productive RB and he proved it in the games and in practice"! I had my opportunities and it just didn't work out, thank you Coaching staff for the opportunity and thank you Clemson for supporting me during my time here"!

Had he said that, "no problems with him bouncing in the pursuit of doing better for himself"! None. Zilch. But, the me first when you had every opportunity sticks out with me. What will he do ( if you are an NFL exec ) when year after year you get Seniors and Juniors who are just as talented to replace him. Will he run from the NFL or man up, dig in and fight for his job!

Like Orange Lightining said - you had better be willing to fight for your job! Or prepared to do something else. Because you are not owed a job/position in business. And TF was not owed a starting job or a significant role as a Clemson RB.

I have had to dig in myself and ward off contenders. I know exactly what I am talking about. I wanted it enough to better myself. To do the small things. Work longer/harder/smarter if necessary! He is apparently not built like that!

Feaster didn't leave anyone in a lurch here. In fact, more

Aug 2, 2019, 11:02 PM

carries for the two newbs to get acclimated through season behind ETN and Lyn-J. Unlike Belk, who cost another DT who wanted to come here a spot that cycle and then bolted. Not cool.

It would actually be great if Feast ripped off a giant year against mghty SEC defenses following his training at Clemson.

RB's have the shortest shelf life in the NFL and the crappiest Rookie to 4/5 year program compared to every other position in the league. It's a highly expendable position, so draft stock carries more weight than others due to guarantees and such.

The transfer portal from USC has no outlet at Clemson. Impossible for one of them to end up here.
