Im all for a good a** chewing but when you take it to the level of your future job references that’s unacceptable. Then apparently he didnt leave it at that, he kept blaming the walk ons for the loss the next day at dinner. I mean come on, No wonder no one wants to play for this clown.

If they would meet with or respond to the Dad this would have been over a long time ago. He doesn’t want the next kid that pays his way & sacrifices to be apart as a walk-on to be treated less that a teammate.
You know we win together as one team, no I in team.
It can only challenge our team to be better.

I truly respect you, and your post Humble, but with nothing like ever being said about Brownell in the full decade that he has been Clemson's Head Basketball coach, I just find it Very hard to believe that all of a sudden he has a walk on that has pissed him off so much that he would call him a Piece Of Chit.
The only way that I could come close to believing that story, is for the team to come out and say that it really happened, or they have video/audio of Brownell saying something like to one of the kids on his team. A lazy Chit maybe, but calling him a Piece of Chit is making it personal, I just don't believe that happen...
I think that maybe a parent quoted his highly pissed off son that has come to believe that he made a mistake walking on at Clemson, and not wanting to admit that. IMPO, the story that his dad is telling, is a made up story that his son has told him to save face, or it's a story that his Dad has made up to save face for both of them.
Who knows, maybe the dad questioned his son's ability to get any significate play time at Clemson before he committed. Maybe none of that happened, but for sure, my honest opinion is that Brownell never called a kid on his team a Piece of Chit. I take into consideration, that kids sometime say the darndest things!!!

I don’t know him, I am not nor have I ever been on the team!
I do know the player and I know the Father!
If they say it happened then it happened!
More than likely exactly as they say it happened.

But like some, and probably some of the same ones that has already convicted DW4, are convicting Brownell from the 2nd hand stories being told. Hopefully those that are willing to convict before all the evidence has been brought out, never gets called to be on a Jury!!!

I can't say one way or another on the allegations but I've talked to a couple people that said the McBride family are pretty straight shooters and good reputation even if they are coots. It was stated to me, as has been reported on other websites, they tried to handle it internally first. I can't say one way or another but let's all hope the real facts come out. It's in everyone's best interest.

I believe what the kid is reported to have stated at some level - it is very specific. The problem is when the Dad repeats what the son has supposedly said. Then it becomes second hand hearsay. And how much hyperbole has been added by the son or the Dad?
I did read a long string of posts on Brownell and this topic, and a poster stated he or she had been a student mgr and that Brownell is indeed a #########. Personally, I have never enjoyed his coaching or his teams' style of play. But the truth is only known by program insiders right now. I would expect more news is forthcoming.

I do not know the McBride’s, but I did watch the 45 minute video and agree with others (likers and haters of CBB alike) that it was very disingenuous. It screamed insecure, entitled and arrogant. I had no problem, however, with his call to attention with how the walk-ons’ are treated. It is what it is. Quite a thankless role and I’m sure they put their efforts in for the right reasons with no return on gratitude. That said, it’s completely understandable to imagine any head coach lighting a kid up for slacking at a critical time, thus jeopardizing the teams’ chances of winning. He probably did call attention to it after the loss, but it’s irrational to believe he blamed the loss on the walk-on’s. It doesn’t fit what the players of present and past say about him. Perception is reality and even the McBride’s aren’t impervious to their own emotions clouding facts.

but if he had exhausted other avenues through the athletic dept and administration, I guess he felt this was the only way to air his complaint. IF, and it's a big IF, Brownell said what is alleged, it is not a good look for Brownell! There is no excuse for talking to a student-athlete in that manner.
One thing you can be sure of...if this were a black family making these allegations, Brownell would be accused of being a racist, and would have already been fired! Not to say I agree with that, but it would not be tolerated!
Anyway, Brownell is in a bind over this, because McBride isn't going to let it go!
