He's on the road recruiting. The news broke before he could meet with the team. Nothing wrong with wanting to let his team know personally through a message. Other coaches didn't even want to meet with their team before leaving.

I understand your explanation, but I think it’s incorrect.

He had the ability to meet with the team first before anything else happened.

He knew the text message would be the final communication he has with most players.
Why would they show up for a 7am meeting at this point, unless the new coach will be speaking?

He was out recruiting players for ND. I think we will find that this went down very very quickly.
