A couple NIT trips pimped those wins.

But great. Brownell at least has a better winning percentage in these games than Purnell. And he is .500 in the NCAA tourney.
Purnell was 8-13
ACC tourney - 3-7
NIT - 5-3
NCAA - 0-3
Why has clemson always been so bad in tournaments?

This just in...... brownell has a better winning % in tournament games than Rick Barnes and Oliver Purnell.
I would like to congratulate brownell in being the best clemson basketball coach in the last 30 years in tournament games, when the stakes are the highest.

The best thing about you arguments for Brownell is the self owns you don’t even recognize. Barnes inherited what was call “the worst team in ACC history” as they were unanimously voted last place in the ACC preseason poll. Yet he never missed the postseason. Brad immediately regressed with a tourney ready team and has missed the postseason altogether multiple times.
There was no first four when Barnes coached. If you compare, apples to apples, they have identical 2-3 records in round of 64 and beyond games. But Barnes did it in 4 seasons. Brownell has had nearly a decade longer and has still failed to improve upon Barnes accomplishments. Thanks for pointing it out.

Per usual, my post went way over your head
So we need context now?. You posted stats about brownell to bash him with 0 additional context.
I then throw out the same stats of our 2 most successful coaches in the last 30 years with 0 additional context. You accuse me of being misleading and lacking context. Woof.

They didn’t need context. They stand on their own. Folks can decide whether that’s good enough. You’re the one who brought context to it and only further highlighted how mediocre his time here has been.

Your numbers don't need context, but the same exact numbers for other coaches do. Gotcha.

It was my post. It said Neff thinks they’re pretty good. Why would that need any further context. Neff clearly does think they’re pretty good. and your context doesn’t say what you think it does. Brownell doesn’t need your kind of help.

You think Neff thinks those numbers are good?
Just as they are bad for brownell, they are worse for Purnell and Barnes.

Hmmm. 13 years. $30+ million in salary. Potentially two facility upgrades he’ll get to have input on. Should enter 23-24 as fifth highest paid coach in the ACC. Someone thinks it’s pretty good.

So you are saying that Neff has to think that record is good because he didn't fire brownell after this year?
The decision to fire a coach is a tad more nuanced than that. I'm hoping Neff considers the past, present, and direction of the program when deciding if he is firing a coach or not. We presently were 1 win away from a tourney bid.
5th place in the ACC makes sense, considering over the last 6 years, that's about where we are ranked in acc record.
Why is 5th highest paid in the ACC a super high salary, but finishing 5th in the ACC is unnacceptable?

Neff is new on the job, not Brownell. Unless he intends to have him coach his contract to completion, there is no financial benefit to waiting to fire him. So yes, I think he believes the record is "pretty good". That might be tempered by thinking he can do better. But I would give Neff more credit than to believe his performance is bad but can suddenly improve.
Yes, one win away. But four humiliating losses created that situation. Then, with everything on the line - failure. Then in the NIT - more failure. This is Brownell's legacy. Not the outlier of the Sweet Sixteen.
You mention nuance but don't apply it to ACC standings. Yes, Brownell has been somewhat consistent in conference performance. As other programs ebb and flow he has usually outperformed expectations. But how many NCAA appearances does he have for that? How many ACC finals has he played for? Won? Every single coach above him and several below him all have ACC championships on their resume. Add the ones with ACC championships who made less and were fired during his tenure and you start compiling an impressive list. He is performing at the level of similarly compensated coaches. He has snookered people with these modest achievements.
Again, it's not that it's a "super high salary." It is one that correlates to regular NCAA tourney appearances and winning ACC titles at other programs.
It is time to move on.

Shyatt beat a number one UNC and was fired. He’d still be coaching here is DRad and Neff were the ADs.

This post was about Brownell and now proud Neff is of him. Not sure what Purnell has to do with that. And he hasn’t coached here since Obama’s first term.
Purnell won 1.14 post season games per season (taking your numbers at face value). Brownell 1.07. He has had nearly twice as long to establish his program. Why is he < his predecessor at this point?
Clemson has been so bad in tournaments in my lifetime because every time a coach establishes any success we move backwards with the successive hire. This time we have opted to stick with that obvious step backwards an insane 14 years. And, in the process, reward tha coach more handsomely than a UNC coach who has made an NCAA final. But we don’t invest enough?!?

And his overall records are...

By the same token, Brad has been to (6) NCAATs in his career.

3 of those appearances were in his 1st year at a new program, with the previous coach's players.
That leaves 3. When playing with his players, Brad has 3 NCAAT appearances in 21 years.

Why would I snort Coke off my keyboard. It would get lost between the keys and that would be expensive and wasteful? And thank you for acknowledging my hard work on behalf of the large majority of Clemson fans ready to move. Are you still banned on Twitter? If not please follow @ FireBradBrownell.

Well deserved. (So you don't have to think, my percentage of TDs/total votes is 0.96%)
And, I really don't appreciate you implying that those who want a better basketball program are drug abusers. I can probably guarantee that 90%+ of us are not.

One of the most strangest things ever to me is what the ADM sees in Brad. There has got to be something that does not meet the eye. Someone of great importance is keeping him in place. The vast majority would love to see a change. However, I don’t believe the ADM is even prepared to make a change
