GNews calls woke police on Dabo

Super woke of this opinion writer to note the injustice of coaches getting paid while players merely receive scholarships (cuz that’s not pay, even though with room and board and spending cash, what football players get annually is probably worth way more than a teacher’s salary. Think about what it would cost these guys to attend from out of state). Never heard this argument before! Kudos to him for his righteous indignation!
Dabo, woo woo on you. You can’t say this stuff. I know you were poor and had a really hard life and got a scholarship to play football and didn’t get paid and now you’re super successful because of it blah blah blah. But what do you know!? I’m smarter than you! Shut your country mouth k? I don’t like how you talk!

If Dabo is hurting Clemson and the SEC is tightening it’s grip, wouldn’t be glad about it? Why the need for a hit piece?? You can almost hear the pee running down his leg he’s so scared.

Dude is an sec homer reporter for USA Today. The Greenville News is just USAToday with a dash of local news. He didn’t even try to accurately report this story…typical.

Pretty bad. P&C down here in Charleston has its warts but at least has enough sense not to waste space on this trash

I would like to tell him what he really is, but I'd like doing it face to face so I could slap the taste out of his mouth if he comes out of it wrong in front of me!!!

that these guys keep spewing, Dabo will get on those same national talk shows and clarify as well as expound his point for all these parents and recruits to hear. This is just the way the "news" and "journalism" work these days. I think we all should able to sniff out this junk by now.

mention of the costs of the professional, state-of-the-art training and nutrition programs that Clemson invests in its student-athletes, plus top of the game coaching and leadership, in addition to tuition and room and board. A player can drop $30K on a month of specialized training ahead of the NFL combine, and that's a player with a legit NFL future. If a player had to pay for the coaching, facilities, and training tools on their own for the slim chance out of high school for a potential NFL career, well we wouldn't have much of a sport to follow.
Like most programs, we pour all of that revenue back into it - it's not a profitable enterprise to pad dividends or stock prices. So who benefits from those continued investments? The kids again mostly at the end of the day.
I believe it would be fair to say that most Power 5 program football players are getting somewhere near $200,000 per year in benefits, or more, whether they go on to lucrative pro careers or ride the pine and go off into some other form of work after.

A thousand tu’s to you for these salient points. Kids are obviously getting a lot. I’m not against kids getting more of the pie, though. That’s fine. But there are way better ways to accomplish that than what we have now. Set up a trust. Tie benefits to graduation rates, job placement. I guess i must be really small minded and bigoted, cuz i kinda sound like dabo

has already moved quickly in that direction - Dabo doing what he can to try to save it. Unfortunately, not enough Dabo's to save this horrible path the sport has taken. Legal to pay for players now.
