On Friday, Law Enforcement determined self defense and no charges will be filed. I'm sure there's more to the story. Either way, it's something that should have never happened.

Drugs and alcohol were probably involved. You would hope the cold water would of sobered him up.

Sheriffs are elected.
I am not for that, but it is the way.

To that end Sheriffs are politicians. This goes back a hundred years.
The pay scale in a small county like Oconee for Sheriffs and Deputies is lower than most places, much lower than say Charlotte or Atlanta.

My experience here in Oconee amazes me at the professionalism this department has.
