Biggest momentum shifting play for/against Clemson

Jan 21, 2016, 1:57 PM

Some nominees

For:
Gaines Adams fumble/pick against Wake
Many other famous plays don't count (4th and 16, The Catch) because they were so late in game

Against:
Ellington fumble in Orange Bowl
DW4 injury vs GT
Bama conversion of 3rd and long on desperation heave in NC

What about when we were marked shiort on fourth down and inches against the coots in '06? I remember it being an awful spot and it completely turned the tide against us. Believe we had a 14 point lead too.

Was asking for additional nominees, cooterhead

The heartbreaking losses obviously stay with me longer. Just can't remember many examples of games where a single play affected the momentum that significantly in our favor.

OSUs muffed punt against us in the 3rd when we were down by 9 and the refs were running away with the game at the time.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

2004 vs Chickens when David Dunham forced Cory Boyd to fumble the opening kickoff

Of course this was preceded by them taunting us at the bottom of The Hill before the game so the wheels were already in motion.

For: 4th & 16 in the Chick Fil A Bowl

Great start to a list! Every one of those plays

changed the momentum in each of their respective games. Gaines play started a comeback unlike any other. The 4th and 16 conversion obviously kept that drive going to beat LSU. We beat GT with DW4 playing the whole game.....unfortunately not Stoudt's best game. Ellington's fumble absolutely changed everything in that OB going into halftime.
The Bama conversion IMO, was as much about Alexander being out (blown coverage), as it was the play call by Lame Kiffin.
+1 for good start to list
