Tim Bourret, on the local Clemson Sports talk show yesterday, said there is a clause that if Notre Dame joins a conference before 2036 when the deal runs out, it has to be the ACC. Being a ND alum and former SID I would think he is correct.

It’s part of GOR.

With that said, it’s only $50million. Payout at new Big Ten will be north of $75mil per year.

Love Tim Bourret, but yes this is true because it is public knowledge. The ACC and ND announced it publicly at the time.

But, if ND wanted to join the B1G and renege on their commitment, all they will need are some good lawyers and an undetermined amount of money.

ND's deal is totally different from the full member's GOR. Yes, they will have pay a penalty but they don't forfeit media rights until 2036, which is the entire issue that's preventing full members from leaving.

I heard about that clause in the past.

ND doesn’t want to go to big10. Too provincial for their bad #### national brand.

ND will wait for nationwide mega league. And they will be paid while they wait.

I would think that, like everything, Dollars would eventually trump that.

It is worth literally hundred of millions of $ each year. It would behove Clemson to vigorously purse this as a research AG school.

I think that thought is probably outdated - it will be about

maximizing $ for TV negotiations and gaining footprint. Nebraska was kicked out of the AAU the year after they accepted the B10 invite. They are not going to take some dumpsterfire of an institution but at the same time, I don't think AAU will be a blocker like it was 10-15 years ago. I think more schools have been leaving the AAU recently than joining.

I don't believe Nebraska is an AAU school so there's that. They were stripped of their status back in 2011 in what some believed to be a retaliatory measure for leaving the B12.
