That's not what he said.
What he is said is that it's no longer about going to the best football team.
He said it is now a business decision.
He has also said that the business decision is made for more than the time Matayo is in college and is about which school can set him up for the best business future.
I believe that is why he is still somewhat entertaining Clemson is because he knows what Clemson does for players in their life after football and the connections and business training that comes with being a Clemson football player.
Now I don't think Matayo is coming to Clemson because he seems to really enjoy the west coast, but if it was just NIL money then Clemson would not be included in the discussion anymore.

I would hope you’d want your child to make the best business decision for himself as well.
Remember that time you quit your $200K job a year to work for $30K because you might like it a little better? Yeah, me neither. Money wins, especially high amounts of money, and there’s nothing abnormal about that.
