Big 10 love?

Aug 1, 2022, 2:14 PM

I can’t figure out why the big 10 is getting such credit as one of the two super conferences. I can’t stand the sec but they are obviously the best especially adding OU/TX. Neither socal school has won the pac 12 recently or is very good. I see the big10 as only marginally better than acc right now.

Not sure big 12 adding the aac schools keeps them a P5, pac 12 might should lose that status too. Aren’t we clearly 3rd best?

PS should we add WVU to even up to 15/16 like the other “super” conferences?

The BIG is comprised of large public institutions with a ton of alumni. It is about reach and scope as much as it is football prowess. Also note they have an elite team (Ohio) and several really good teams such as PSU, UM, Wisky to name three. Basically the ACC has Clemson plus a bunch of average teams.

The ACC has us and should be above average teams - Miami, FSU, UNC and VA Tech. They clearly need to get their acts together.

All are large state schools with huge alumni bases. The quality of football drops off dramatically after Ohio St.

Adding WVU does not increase media $$'s.

We should get the H&11 out of the ACC, and go to the SEC is where I would rather see us go, and go as fast as possible, like last week wouldn't have been to soon IMO!!!

I am all about the B1G getting some love. In all honesty, if they werent about to sign a HUGE tv deal, I dont think they would be looked at the same way. There was a time not too long ago, where the B1G was 2nd rate. Its time for the B1G to add good, relevant teams for once. And add
Some schools from the southeast.

I'll say it again: The disconnect people still don't get...

is it isn't all just about winning CFP championships.

Midwesterners love college football! They aren't as idiotically fanatical as SEC fans who chant "SEC SEC SEC", but they love their teams. B1G teams fans care about games where they play other B1G teams regardless of the W/L records. Bragging rights and trash talk matter and that is enough for most people. IMO, it's a good balance of enthusiasm and sense as compared to the SEC whack jobs that argue on Paul Finebaum's radio show.

There is also the fact the B1G area includes large media markets, their schools are huge and their alumni are numerous and very wealthy. When you put it all together, this is why the B1G is the only conference of comparable value to TV networks as the SEC.
