Ben Middlebrooks

Apr 20, 2021, 8:27 AM

What type of player is this young man? I saw he was 6’11” and I know that Clemson needs help in the low post.
Also saw he was slim for his height. But does he have the toughness to fight down low for rebounds and points.
I have not seen any of his playing time. Will he develop into an ACC low post player or is he more of a 3 point shooter?

He is more of a stetch 4 who can shoot well handle and drive for a big guy. Think some of the Gonzaga guys but not at that level yet.

Were the Gonzaga players at the highest level in high school or were they developed? if they had to be developed then why say Ben is not at their level?

I mean he needs to get stronger and then he could be at that level. He does have similar talent traits for sure though.

I have a feeling he's about to have access to a great strength training and nutrition program.
Rivals has him at 215 by the way.

Gonzaga recruits are at the highest level, which is information you have access to as freely as I do.

It's ridiculous for your to suggest Middlebrooks is at that level. It's also predictable for you to suggest that.

It's also predictable for you to assume the worst.

How about we let him get on campus, work with our coaches, and play in a few games before conclusions are drawn.

I'm not assuming anything. I'm stating facts about the recruit rankings.

If recruiting rankings really mattered think of all the championships UGA football would have. Like Dabo says, college sports is a development game.

Look at the recruiting rankings of all recent national champions. They are all routinely near the top of the rankings for several years prior to winning.

Recruiting rank #1 doesn't mean you will win the Natty, but recruiting at #50 does mean you WON'T. Obviously there is more to it, but top-level recruiting is a must.

Some guys bloom late so there is no way to know what we have until he gets on campus

I’m not worried about the kids height and weight, the #1 overall recruit is 7’ and under 200 pounds.
