BESSEMER, Ala. -- An argument over the Crimson Tide's loss to Texas A&M on Saturday led to a deadly shooting at an Alabama home, police said.
Two men started fighting over which team was better at a gathering in the Birmingham suburb of Bessemer when the game was in its final minutes Saturday night, Lt. Christian Clemons told news outlets.
The homeowner asked the men to leave, and shots were fired outside.
Officers found Kealand Amad Pickens, who had been shot several times in the torso, Clemons said. The 27-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 3:20 a.m. Sunday.
The shooter fled the scene before officers arrived. Clemons said they know his identity, AL.com has reported, but the suspect is still at large.
Texas A&M stunned top-ranked Alabama 41-38 on a last-play field goal, ending the Crimson Tide's winning streak at 19 games.
"It's just another case of resorting to violence to handle differences," Clemons said.

paper, I read an article about how a bama fan was so enraged after a loss to auburn, that he shot and killed his son, when the son tried to calm him down. When I first got out of service, I worked construction in south Georgia. On the gang that I worked on were a lot of guys from Alabama. Absolutely great guys until you mentioned Alabama football and then they became absolutely stupid. If I had made a derogatory remark about Bear Bryant, I would not have escaped with my life. Only recently, a woman shot a close friend at an Alabama game viewing party because the friend wasn't dejected enough after a loss. A very peculiar lot, those bama fans are. My wife would tell you, that I have acted in sheer lunacy after a Tiger loss, but never in my wildest times have I lost it like these people.

told me literally that you better not walk into a "Bama" bar wearing an Auburn cap, or, you might not make it out alive. He said at the very least, you would get your ar$e whipped, repeatedly. I used to think he was joking, but maybe he wasn't.
He is a Coot, so they just took pity on him, no matter what bar he walked into.

I think blaming football is a stretch. Birmingham residents rarely need a specific motive to shoot each other. Rough town. Blaming it on football just sells papers.
