Just some numbers to think about

Mar 12, 2017, 3:37 PM

The Power 6 basketball conferences have a total of 75 teams. Of those 75 teams, only 14 have an NCAA tournament drought as long as ours or longer.
And 4 of those teams look like they will end their drought this year.
Of those 14 long suffering teams, all have made head coaching changes since Clemson did with the exception of one.

Lorenzo Romar is in his fifteenth year as head coach at the University of Washington. And the Huskies last big dance appearance was the same year as ours.
But he did take UDub to the NCAA tournament 6 times before the drought began. And they gave him a 10 year contract extension in 2010.
So his current buyout is 3.2 million.

Patience is a virtue and we seem to be the most patient school in all of college basketball.
How much longer must we be patient?

Why would DRad give BKB a six year contract with a $3.5M buyout, that makes no sense financially, athletically, or any other way???????

Buyouts are commonplace in today's sports landscape.

Brownell's buyout is not really that significant. Dabo's contract he signed a few years ago had a $20 million buyout, which only applied to Clemson and not to him. That's a pretty dumb business decision, but it paid off.

For the 1,493rd time, the buyout is not a factor here.

If DRad keeps Brownell, it will be because he feels that Brownell deserves more time with the new facilities. It is not because Clemson can't afford the buyout or DRad is somehow not wanting to look bad. It wouldn't make him look bad to fire Brownell at this point, and even if it did, he doesn't make decisions based on appearances like that. He makes decisions based on what he thinks is best for Clemson athletics. He has proven to make great decisions thus far since becoming our AD, so how about we trust him to do his job?

Personally, I don't see how the new digs will help that much***
