6 of the 15 have us in the top 4. I wonder where we actually end up this week? I bet 5th still.

It seems more important for us to remain in the playoff race at the end of the season than ever before. Given the current climate of conference restructuring, Clemson has to keep its brand in play because if we're just in the mix with the top 3 or 4 of the ACC, we have zero flexibility for making a move if that becomes a necessity to survive. This is the one area that UofSC has over us...being in the SEC means they're in the money no matter how bad the actual program is on the field. For all the talk about teams in the ACC that actually have the brand to make a move in all this mess, Clemson is the only one that actually currently has the branding. FSU is improving, but not back where they were and I'm not sure they're ever going to be dominant again. Potential to be very good, yes. Dominant? Well, that remains to be seen. Miami just showed us that 80s are LONG gone over the last two weeks and truthfully, I'm not sure they have what it takes foundationally to sustain real long-term success there. There's no 'college football aura' there with a stadium shared with an NFL team that's 30 minutes away on I-95. North Carolina may have the juice to go Big 10 because of hoops, but doubtful they would be a serious consideration for the SEC. They're actually kind of a wildcard here with a definite national brand and with juuuuust enough football to be of interest.

For 98% of the college football world, 10 wins every year is a stellar achievement but for us, that might not be good enough.

as of this AM, the smartpill machine only shows 8 teams

remain with a +10%+chance to make the playoffs.

Bama 85%
Ohio St 77%
UGA 72%
Clemson 43%
------------
Mich 30%
S Cal 26%
Minnesota 10%
Penn St 10%

That's it. That's all that's left after 4 weeks.

There are a few with a haymaker's chance (TN, Wash, Utah, Ole Miss).
This is with 2/3 of the season left to play.
