Augusta National Women's Amateur: March 30th-April 2nd

The first 36 holes will be contested over two days on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., March 30 and 31, 2022. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, April 1. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 2 and will feature the top 30 competitors who made the cut.
We have (2) Tigers in the field Savannah Grewal and Ivy Shepherd:
Clemson University sophomore Savannah Grewal advanced to match play at the North & South Women's Invitational last summer before making program history en route to a T-3 finish at the Clemson Invitational, becoming the first Tiger to record a hole-in-one in competition.
Grewal, 20, finished the fall season with a third-place finish at the Spirit International Amateur Championship and was one of two players in the field to finish all three rounds under par.
In 2017, the native of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, became the first Canadian Drive, Chip & Putt national champion, claiming the girl's 14-15 division title. She also won the AJGA's Hale Irwin Colorado Junior in 2018. Grewal was diagnosed with a heart condition at age 14 and underwent successful surgery in November of 2020. This is her first Augusta National Women's Amateur appearance.
In her fourth year at Clemson University, Ivy Shepherd closed her 2021 season with a T3 in the Tar Heel Invite and a runner-up finish in the Patriot All-America Invitational. Earlier in the year, she reached the Round of 16 in the North & South Women's Amateur and finished third in the Georgia Women's Amateur. Shepherd, 21, earned All-Conference honors for a second time in the 2020-21 season thanks to top-25 finishes in each of her seven starts with a season-best T3 in the Clover Cup. In summer 2020, she reached the semifinals of the North & South Women's Amateur. The Peachtree City, Ga.-native came to Clemson as the top-ranked player from the state of Georgia. She will celebrate her 22nd birthday the week after playing in her first Augusta National Women's Amateur. Active in community service, she has raised money for multiple local and national charities. Before starting at Clemson, she was a member of four straight state championship-winning basketball teams at Central Christian School in Georgia.
Good luck Tigers...hope to see you both play at Augusta National!

Thanks for posting @tigermaniac - I hope Ivy will make it. I've asked via Twitter and home page if we could get info on ivys injury. She hasn't played all year. We've missed her but lots of experience with the young gals.

I understand Ivy is in the transfer portal and will play her covid year at the University of Kentucky. This was told to me by one of her recent tournament playing partners. Anyway, I plan to follow her for a few holes Wednesday in Ga.

That explains it. Not sure why it's been kept a secret and why she's still listed on the team. I want to say I read it a while back that "Kat" was playing in tourney x for the injured Ivy. Oh well, good luck to her if she's gone.
Thanks for the info.

Did you make it to the reserves. Brutal. Dissapointing but our ladies got to play with some exceptional golfers... Should help. Just wish we'd get interviews and more information about the team etc.

If a Supreme Court nominee cannot determine what a woman is....although she was nominated because she is a woman....

If you think you could beat them, go for it.

Starts in four minutes. I’ve got Rose Zhang to win, Ganne, Lindblad and Avery to finish in top 20. In our, “won’t make the cut” pool, I’ve got Irene Kim.
Whose your pick and how much do you have riding on it?

Not aware of any pool. I don't bet so maybe that is why. I'm only interested in Savannah. Ivy is no longer with the team. She's finally been removed from the official website on Clemson current roster.
It's like effing pulling teeth to get any information on our "other" sports like golf. Both men's and women's - zero discussion or press conference. Little to zero info on recruiting, how many schollys etc. Future plans.
I love Clemson, always will but we do a pi$$ poor job of promoting anything other than football or basketball. Sad to say, but you learn more on tci or Tiger illustrated than here.

That’s what TigerNet is for. Clemson is bringing in two new players next year. Both are SC girls, ranked 1st and 3rd in the state for the class of 22. They will replace Shepherd and Callisto Rice who has exhausted her eligibility.

Apologies, shouldn't have gone on a rant. Just saying it would be nice if all our coaches had some type of coverage after each event.
Hope you win your pool. Sounds pretty neat. I'm hoping the two SC players develop and can contribute. The last #1 ranked SC player we got wasn't able to break into the rotation but I'm not sure what her national rank was. Both these are in the top 100 as far as I can tell.
Apologies again.
