Asking..did Bama, Ga, Tam & OHst leave us & other college FB teams..

Feb 3, 2022, 9:23 AM

enough decent players to exist, no less be able to be invited to the CFP sweepstakes?

Side note on nutrition: What you think about the Whole Food Plant-Based Diet (no meats, dairy or oil products) vs the standard meat & dairy diet most eat.

Unreal the benefits seen from plant-based showing reversal of heart problems, lowering cholesterol & diabetes. Bill Clinton is on it as well as Obama and they both look unreal thin.

Nobody In Line.

But the Tigers will be fine.

I suspect you'll eventually see questionable 4 and 5 star players with either grade or character issues that will fall through the NIL cracks but they'll be a gamble. I remember Randy Moss getting into trouble twice. First he was told ND could no longer use him and then he was turned away by FSU. That kind of player doesn't get passed up often.

Plant based diet is fine, but

Feb 3, 2022, 9:55 AM

these laboratory developed meat type products are questionable. Beyond meat has astronomical amounts of estrogens, for example. My advice - do some research before eating them. I’m skeptical on improving upon nature.

They don’t have astronomical amounts of estrogen. That claim was made by some cattle rancher/vet I’m pretty sure, and debunked. They have plant based isoflavins, which a Clemson grad scientist tried to explain to me is a plant based Estrogen that isn’t as strong as human estrogen…but I’m not scientifically inclined. I eat those plant/soy based stuff, and am more concerned that they are heavily processed and have more saturated fat than lean meats. If your gonna do your research stick with the papers from respected universities like Clemson and Harvard, stay away from podcasts and Facebook.

The difference between a 4* and 5* player is that the 5* is ready to play as a freshman. A 3* or 4* takes more time to develop and be coached. So with the number of 4* & 3* player on the Clemson roster it will take a little longer to develop them into a NC caliber team.

Perhaps Waterboy but you're painting with a wide brush.

On NIL, I think it will start to be similar to the one and done of college basketball with the difference being a transfer after the first or second year. I think you’ll have your 5-10 top level recruiting schools who pick up a majority of the five star players and fill out the rest with four stars. These schools will see a lot of attrition with their freshmen and sophomore skill players that don’t see a path to being a starter. It will be interesting to see if a donor from any second or third tier program makes a huge commitment and decides they want to bully their way into relevancy. How funny would it be to see Northwestern suddenly emerge as a contender? They have a great coach and great facilities, they just need top level recruits.

I don’t know enough about nutrition as a science to speak on this but I can speak of my own experiences. Almost ten years ago now I began making a fruit and vegetable smoothie for breakfast each morning and it has been great for me. Better energy, better regularity, better metabolism throughout the day.

I think the NIL and Portal as they stand now hurts more players than it helps. Hopefully Dabo can continue his success with players and parents on the value of an education. For the vast majority, NIL money is fleeting, a good education is for life.

As far as plant based diet, many people don't consider they can miss out on essential nutrients, many amino acids, calcium, iron and vitamin B12. As far as fake meat, I have real concerns and probably won't buy into it. However, we are careful with our sources of meat, especially fish.

We do go meatless a couple of times a week, and have great respect for those who choose to give up meat completely.

I don't see it happening.
If you put 20 5* star players on a team somebody is not starting- somebody will most likely not get playing time. I see them hitting the portal. I always go back and think about the greatest team ever- Alabama- that was totally abused by Little Ole Clemson. I don't know maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

As for the meat thing-
I guess it depends on your health-Plant based meats are a good source of protein and fiber- with less saturated fat- but real meat has more protein ,zinc an vitamin B12

I’m on a red meat diet. The more the better. The idea of a plant based hamburger makes me want to gag. ??

From what I heard only a few 2 stars in Newry, Cateechee, and Moonville. ??. But Dabo from Pelham will coach em up.

Thin is not a good look, the best options include working out and eating plenty of lean proteins. Cholesterol is not a bad thing unless you intake the bad kind from fast food and saturated fats. Especially getting older being thin is not a good thing, more likely to have brittle bones and take on hip, back and leg injuries. The best thing is a sturdy diet, regular weight training and your body will be built to last until the day you die with minimal problems along the way. Remember to squat weekly.

and I never squatted in my life til some months ago at age 80.6 and now do 3 sets of 10 each..and read where one should do squats Twice a day.

When I met Joe21 over two years ago and he was 97+, I saw him trying to get up from his restaurant chair and he struggled mightily to get up which was a tail-tell sign his upper leg strength was shot.

We will find players.

I will continue to eat plant based vegetables and natural meat and milk. If meat were supposed to grow on trees it would. If milk was supposed to come from almonds they would have ####### (hope that gets by the mods?).
