It's debatable.

Jerry Jeudy is probably the best receiver in college football right now. Yes, better than Higgins, better than Ross. The dude is lethal and can turn a game anytime, from anywhere on the field. He scares you every time he gets his hands on the ball.

Of course, both of those guys a top five, and we have two of them. Devonta Smith and Henry Ruggs are both probably Top-20-or-so guys and will be drafted and have a chance to stick in the NFL but they're not as good as Higgins or Ross, either. We also don't have an established #3.

Put Renfrow back on the team and I'd say we're ahead in totality, but until somebody steps up in the slot for us I'd (reluctantly) give Bama the nod at WR right now. Of course, Amari Rogers is a guy who could give us back a lot of what we lost with Renfrow, especially if it turns out his knee is sound and he can adapt to the tighter confines of the slot, as opposed to the 2-spot where he played his first two seasons. And if the newbs like Ngata and Ladsen continue to emerge we could probably be well ahead of Bama by the end of the year.

Going off the Natty alone, I’d take Ross anyday.

Re: Palmer says Best Recievers are at Bama

Sep 8, 2019, 1:09 PM

Sorry, Ladson and Ngata might end up being the best combo by career end here... right now nerves and playcalling im sure... but I think as far as on the field at the same time... we’re clearly 1... remember of course we don’t even open the book for our throwing game for awhile... so it seems

Re: Palmer says Best Recievers are at Bama

Sep 8, 2019, 2:36 PM

Ladson needs to catch the ball in the end zone.

Sep 8, 2019, 7:34 PM [ in reply to Re: Palmer says Best Recievers are at Bama ]

What matters with receivers Alabama or Clemson will be who can dominate against the best defenses. Our five-star guys just overwhelmed their five star guys in the national championship.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

As of right now I would give Bama the edge

Sep 8, 2019, 1:06 PM

Higgins and Ross are fantastic but we need a 3rd guy to step up whether its Rodgers coming back or Ngata/ladson emerging. Currently Bama has 4 legit guy and we have 2. If I'm ranking WRs from the 2 teams it looks something like this:

1) Jeudy
2-3) Higgins and Ross
4-6) Waddle, Ruggs, and Smith
7) ?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

4-6...? Not hardly. They might claim one of those spots.***

Who's there right now? Ngata looks like hes the furthest along

Sep 8, 2019, 1:11 PM

but all of those guys for Bama and very good and have at least one full season of experience.

Ask me again in 2 months and my list might look a lot different.

Sep 8, 2019, 1:11 PM [ in reply to As of right now I would give Bama the edge ]

I think jeudy is 1 now but only cause there showing all the cards... Tua dropping bombs all day while right now we’re merely playing a game of chess as we like to say.... by the time we get to Bama I’d we do lol, it’s gonna be no contest

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They’re good no doubt. Different than our guys

Sep 8, 2019, 1:13 PM

We seem to have better circus catch ability and they play more under control. Our guys seem to be better jump ball players and their guys are very locked in to their routes.

They are very good though. Especially Jeudy

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Would LOVE to see Bamas WRs try to make the catches in traffic our WRs make

Like anything else, declaring someone the "best" WR is

Sep 8, 2019, 1:21 PM

dependent on what attributes are weighted the most. Jerry Jeudy's best quality is his speed. He is a speed demon that simply outruns most of his coverage and is how he makes most of his plays. From a pure speed perspective - Jeudy is probably the best WR going. If you value "hands" over all other WR attributes - I would say Higgins and Ross are the best WR's in college football....

Re: Palmer says Best Recievers are at Bama

Sep 8, 2019, 3:19 PM

Folks, it is all very simple: You must understand the mindset of non-Clemson fans. Their viewpoint makes total sense. Nothing dumb about it.

Everyone else is considering returning receivers. Freshmen hype doesn't count. From that viewpoint, the opinion Alabama has a better receiving cast is understandable. Nothing dumb about it.

Ngata and Ladson haven't done anything yet. When they do, minds will change.

Its not that crazy for him to say that, but I think we have the best, because we know about Ladon and Ngata. Bama has some studs, but no way the crazy depth we have with talent.
