As bad as we looked overall tonight, the defense allowed

Oct 23, 2021, 7:07 PM

20 points to a VERY good Pitt offense. That would and SHOULD have been a good enough performance to win the game, with any help whatsoever from the offense.

I don't like to call out individuals, but I have to say, the interception on the shovel pass is THE poorest play I have ever seen a Clemson QB make. But, also I must say, if our receivers just caught the balls they SHOULD have caught, with ZERO improvement from DJ, this would have been a completely different game. All this highly touted receiver talent has frankly SUCKED so far this year. Very poor overall effort by them. And that INCLUDES Ross.

It would not surprise me to see him opt out the rest of the year, and with the season being what it is now, that wouldn't completely be a bad thing. We need some new blood to step up. Shipley shows signs of being a leader, but even he had the most glaring drop of the day, a SURE touchdown.

So, so many things wrong. Not sure how we got here this quickly, but for sure, opposing teams have no fear of this particular Clemson team, nor should they.

This will be the first time since Dabo began his run of sustained success that he has had to make some tough personnel decisions at the end of the season as far as coaches go. Some player changes should be made BEFORE then. He did it to get us TO the top, will he be willing to do it to get us BACK there, or has he lost that hunger now?

That same defense made bone headed penalties and could not get off the field.

Stop giving them a pass from criticism.

The D is average at best. Our safeties are terrible and the pass rush is nonexistent.

Our pass rush is horrible but then again we are missing Brian and Tyler.

TNet has had an obsession with Turner ever since that interception versus LSU in the endzone. He is functional but not at all athletic.

I like the take. I think he’s got the meat to make

the change if he believes it. However, it’s his personnel selections that got these two position groups to where they are today and I don’t suspect the driving method to change.

We badly need a qualified coach at Safety too. No more early-90s Alabama players need apply.

If you think our receivers are talented and scare defenses you are very fooled by rankings. What you see is what we have but sadly we had 3 receivers out today.

Four if you include Ross

Oct 23, 2021, 7:58 PM

The old Ross was absolutely out today.

I know ship should have made the catch. But did we ever go back to that play? I don't think we did. Ship played a heck of a game and I have to give him a break.

He's a true freshman. I cut him slack. But I get your point.

bizarre

that Dabo keeps bragging on these unproven WRs that can't manage to get in game shape, including last year.
I felt we had a chance to win by running the ball and of course... like Rob Spence, we decided to do the complete opposite. We aren't dictating what we want to do on Off. We are letting the Def dictate what we do on Off.

Ross was a phenom freshman and the injury derailed a great career. He made a great catch out of bounds today that might have changed things but thrown too far off field of play. His foot was out by maybe a foot, would have been an all time catch.
