They all wanted big government to give them free stuff, and are now protesting out of fear of big government taking away their rights.....
Am I missing something?

My biggest issue is the entitlement. There are 20 year old college students that honestly think they know the answers to social issues and the economy because a professor that never worked in the real world told them so....
They discredit any a persons view that's different and blame stuff on the baby boomers...
Either only 18-25 year olds know the answers to the worlds provlems, or they are to ignorant to listen to people with life experience.
Keep in mind I'm only 26... but I was raised by a factory worker that worked 65 hours a week to provide. I know work 70 hours a week trying to climb the corporate ladder. Call me crazy but I still believe you get rewarded for hard work...

this stuff is being pumped into their heads. Some just aren't smart enough to say to themselves, "Hey, this doesn't make sense." If they voice it, they are ridiculed.

This is true, thankfully Clemson's Econ department had a nice mix of both sides.

I also didn't take as much in from a career professor. It speaks more to real world experience. I'd much rather have a professor from a less prestigious university that could relate information to the real world.

The one you linked doesn't support your cause as much as you think. I read it back when it came out.

Made it very clear in a previous post that I'm a Gen Xer.
I hope millennials take time to actually read and comprehend articles.

"millennial narcissistic" personality?...Because you seem to infer that I or perhaps everyone else on here should or must be expected to read your previous posts where you have taken the time to talk about yourself?...and to declare who you are or aren't.
Sorry if I missed that. I now understand you are GenX.

during a time when jobs are difficult to get and keep.
If you looked similar studies for younger workers in the early 90's, you'd probably see the same thing.

I see that there are a lot of retirements happening during the next 10 years. If you work hard it is an easy ladder to climb compared to gen X. 08 kept people working longer and pushing out retirements. This hirt hiring and advancement. If you're willing to work, now is a great time to be in the market.

No generation is collectively "stupid"
Nov 11, 2016, 9:35 AM
|

They have different traits that other generations reject.
Millennials have many positives they are bringing to the table and have one of the highest levels of optimism we've seen in a generation despite the challenges they face. And we can blame the previous generations for their debt woes with college.
Make sure you aren't including current college students and teenagers as millennials. They are a different generation.
I'm a Gen Xer. Everyone thought we'd just be a bunch of slacker druggies. We turned out okay.

I actually saw a study that showed working millennials actually work hard.

The issue comes from some thought process that my generation knows everything.
On millennialist defense we have only know bush and Obama. Both had liberal policies, but it was easy to blame everything on "conservative policy."

Technically, a Millennial is someone born in the 80s and 90s.
But I get your point.

Good for you. Many of these young people have been brainwashed by liberal professors (government employees). Hopefully in a few years we can once again see how well the free market can perform.
"If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty, you have no brain."

Just remember how hard life seemed when we were that age. OK, they expect a little more from others than we expected but we should know that no matter how hard the process may be they are going to appreciate the education they are getting at the hands of life. They surely will not die.
They'll be fine. Those fits the pitched when they were two will play out and end they will be fine. This is a process, they are not enjoying growing up. We are not obligated to suffer with them and I certainly do not feel their pain.
