Are you looking at a psychopath or a reformed guy? Not sure.

Not quite sure here...are you looking at a psychopathic murderer who's successfully conned a bunch of well-meaning libs...or a truly reformed character who saw the error of his ways and reformed because he was shown a "better way"?

I look at the eyes and still see a psychopath, but I'm a skeptic when it comes to human nature.

You decide.

Agree. I see a high-functioning psychopath...but still a psychopath. Dude's a killer. Just my take.

Their recidivism stats are still interesting. I'm curious what's going on there.

I think there are probably a subset of prisoners in the US who could actually benefit/respond to a similar treatment. Many come from places and backgrounds so horrible that all it might take is treating them with respect and exposing them to a stable, calm, healthy, clean, and nice environment.

On the other hand, there are many I don’t think can actually be rehabilitated or helped in any meaningful way. I hate to think of anyone as a lost cause, but there are surely many in our prison system right now.

Also, a lot are completely normal while they are locked up. A lot of people are in for drugs or something drug related, or even alcohol related in a way. Then they get out with a felony and no future and their lives fall apart again.

...and that's why they get to the sociopaths. Sociopaths are made, not born. Relentless kindness and adult monitoring can get to even those who think there's no better path.

I still think this guy's a psychopath, and is a waiting time-bomb on whatever fool is taken in by his high-functioning act and invests in him.

I was a bouncer for awhile...I'm telling you, I would never, ever, take my eyes off this guy. He's dangerous...and if he doesn't kill again I'd be shocked.

The system itself is still interesting. The girl especially interests me. She's got a set of principles...and is going to relentlessly try to wear down even those who don't believe in them. Which is where socialism - the right kind, anyhow - can be effective.

I'd be curious to see what her interaction is with the primary subject. I'd bet you she doesn't like him...and of course, they never showed that. Girl has hard eyes.

There are no People of Color in this video and therefore it is racist, regardless of the criminal's guilt or lack thereof.

First, the rationale behind my original comment. 3 min in and while watching a film pushing prison reform; I am informed that these are the happiest people on earth.

No doubt, it is because of their universal healthcare, subsidized childcare, and free college tuition. Sound familiar?

Oh, there she is! Executive producer Erika Berenstein: pos activist. Called it.

Now on to your original question where you think this guy psychopath. What do you know about his murder? You know nothing because that is not the point of this first year theater class drivel. Did he kill someone drunk driving? Stab someone to death? Poison his parents? Punch a guy at a bar, that fell and hit his head?

Would any of those make you think differently? Who cares, because we don’t FKN know.

You and your friends (the ones that think the “Daily Show “ is deep in on the issues) can sit around the coffee house and pretend to have insightful conversations about this topic based on zero information. And I will stand by my original comment as it’s the most accurate in the thread.

I am the one running out of patience with gd idiots.

Finally, something approaching actual brain activity.

I didn't buy it, not because of anybody who was involved - I didn't google it at all - but because I was watching the guy's eyes. He was working everybody involved, but there was absolutely zero emotional involvement from the eyes up. In real simple terms: whatever he was feeling, never touched his eyes. He had figured out some Dexter-type rote responses. The rest of was just that...skin-deep responses, for the benefit of whoever might be buying his act.

How I always operate, when I'm figuring somebody out. The rest struck me as selective leftist drek...or right-wing drek, if they were casting this guy as some sort of hero.

They have done studies. The people in Finland and Denmark say they look at it differently. They are "less unhappy" is how they like to phrase. They don't have the stress for the average person. There is more upside in the USA, but 90% of Americans will never know that feeling.

Maybe you should stop using Tigernet if it is going to upset you when someone makes a comment about your post. It's not worth the anger it seems to be causing you.

As far as the video is concerned, I didn't hear him say anything about remorse for his victim.

actually think the purpose of prison is rehabilitation, or they like to think that. It isn't. The purpose of our prisons is to be a punishment for a crime. But at the same time, you hear people talk about being rehabilitated in prison, usually people begging for parole. And you hear prison wardens talk about rehabilitated prisoners, etc. But that's lipstick on a pig here in the US.

Just find the idea of "rehabilitation" in conflict with almost everything about our prison system.

Love it or hate it, it seems Finland is at least giving "rehabilitation" something more than lip service.

For many in prison it is a rehabilitation mentally for a bit, at least in their minds. Most aren't in for over 2 years. It's a chance to reflect and get clean. Most people in jail had drug issues of some sort or alcohol issues of some sort. The system looks at it as punishment like you said though. They really aren't set to change their lives when they get out though. A felon with limited skills is usually the scenario. They end up often going to old ways. There is no rehabilitation in the US system in all reality generally speaking.

Who the #### knows based on a short video and viewing the criminal's eyes?

I will say, export this concept to America and there will be a ton more murders committed. This guy's got it better than lots of the folks committing murder now in the US. This concept might in fact incentivize murder?

Exactly. That would never work in the US. That said, they have all that training and education in Finland anyway. They don't have to kill someone to get it covered.
