Are we seriously not losing any defensive linemen?

Jan 16, 2022, 10:55 AM

Good news, but might see some depth transfer…

Myles, KJ, XT, Mascoll, Swint (one I am worried about)

TD, Bresee, Ruke, Etinosa, Page, Capehart

Might be right about Swint but he looks a little undersized to me? As great as it is for 2022, because we lost Campbell and have no DTs for 2022 right now, looks really lean in 2023. Will lose all 4 starters but that will be a selling point for 2023 recruiting both externally and internally, i.e. keep the others home.

BTW, Tre Williams is a beast and should only get better. IF Capeheart steps up, him along w/Ruke, Page and ET, that's one helluva of a DT rotation for 2022! That will also make the DEs better because the backs and guards will have to be concerned with the rush from the middle that they won't be able to help the OTs. I THINK that might be what Eason told both KJ and X. The combination of Wilkins and Big Dex helped Clelin Ferrell make a lot of $$$ that he otherwise probably wouldnt have made.

Just my opinion though.........

Oh yeah, I get your concern about the DE's for 2023.

But a lights-out performance from Clemson's D-Line in 2022 should be a tremendous attraction for top-end HS D-Line prospects for the 2023 recruiting season.

Also, as you pointed out, the DT rotation (both quality and depth) should be outstanding in 2023.

We can hope that C.Denhoff and Z.Patterson develop well, and let's hope that G.Williams and K.Swint can stay patient, and that Swint keeps developing physically ... that should help to set a good foundation for 2023.

In the world of the portal I would be stunned if we didn't lose some backups.
