Anyone notice how shallow WF Hartman's drop back is

Nov 14, 2021, 8:18 PM

Most QBs throw the ball from 7-8 yds behind the line of scrimmage. Hartman throws from like 3 or 4 yds behind. Seems clear to me the game plan from BV defensively should be to send pressure up the middle in the A and B gaps right into his face as well as make sure our DL gets those hands up. Should be a lot of opportunities for batted balls.

His receivers do a great job of getting open more quickly than most. A super senior roster paying dividends for the Deacon Demons this year.

Could be. Very similar to Bennett at UGA with his escapability out of the pocket though.

If he decides to run, we better stop him. We don't want to be chasing him for 60 plays. With our offense liking 3 and outs so much, I'd expect them to try to keep them on the field.

I see this one being tough. Hope the RBs are good and healthy this weekend!

I think you will see a spy technique similar to what was used against FSU. Hartman is elusive but he is not as elusive as the Louisville QB so that technique should be somewhat effective. The DL will need to be ready to get their hands up to bat passes as Hartman's receivers don't run elaborate routes so I don't know that the DL will have time to get home very often.
