Anyone have parking recommendations for Charlotte?

Nov 16, 2017, 2:36 PM

Gonna grab a pass ahead of time. Anyone had good or bad luck in a certain lot?

Parked in the vacant lot behind the Charlotte observer building between tryon and college street for the 2015 championship game met a lot of nice people. Will actually try and get that spot again. It was only $20 to park if I’m not mistaken. And only a 2 block walk to the stadium

Ride the train for a couple of bucks and forget the enormous traffic jam! Woodland station is close by and MUCH easier than fighting that parking mess.

The train was an absolute disaster in 2015.***

I'll have to admit it was bad after the 2015 game when people were trying to get on the train at the Stonewall Station.Lots of impatient people pushing and the trains took forever to get there. It was smooth sailing from the first train station though(I-485 station)before the game.

There are ways to beat the crowds that don't take too much longer...

Walk up the rail to the transportation center or even 7th street (where it turns around) and get on there. You can sit down before you get to the stonewall station and convention center crowds.

Or get on at Stonewall going towards uptown (the wrong way), and just ride it to the end and back through all the crowds. People will crowd on, but if you have a seat, it's not that big of a deal

The train ride IN is great

The train ride OUT will be hell.

I found a spot on ParkWhiz for $60 at College and Stonewall - a surface lot with tailgating permitted. Spaces on stubhub are ridiculously high.

Just like the 2009 Belk Bowl and the last two ACC Championship games against Virginia Tech and UNC;I plan on taking the LYNX LIGHT RAIL.It's only $4.40 for a round trip ticket, the parking lot is big and safe with security and you don't have to worry about all that traffic in and around Charlotte before and after the game.

Make that the 2010 Meineke Car Care Bowl and not the Belk Bowl

Where do you park at to catch the light rail? Is that off of 485 and a long ride in or is there a better lot/stop to park at? Not familiar with Charolotte.

Thanks!

Go Tigers!!!

Check out ""Park Whiz"" --- have always had good luck with their parking in Charlotte & Atlanta

The light rail is called "Lynx". Here's a map of the stations and lists which stations have a parking lot (called park and ride). http://charlottenc.gov/cats/rail/lynx-blue-line/Pages/Stations-Park-and-Rides.aspx
Parking is free at those stations. The 485 station is the biggest, but most are decent sized. On a gameday, as you get closer to gametime, some of the smaller lots closer to uptown may fill up.

The light rail pretty much runs alongside South Blvd from uptown to 485. You should be able to find any of the stations listed on google maps for directions

Drive uptown and park in a garage near restaurants and bars

Nov 16, 2017, 4:33 PM

It's only a 15 min walk or so to the stadium, and easier to get out later.

Seems like I paid 15 or 20 in 2015.
