Anyone else think this Bama OC drama is all window dressing?

Jan 3, 2017, 1:17 PM

A red herring? An attempt by Saban to throw Dabo and company off their scent? I think our staff will see through it

Don't know. All I know is when we win, this will be the

excuse of every coot turned Bama fan.

I think it's the first line of excuses.

Going pro and thinking about the NFL draft comes to mind. Saban has saddled that horse up and ESPiN will ride it throughout the offseason.

Good question. I think the media hype around the move is drama but the change itself is real. I don't know many leaders of organizations who would make this kind of material change at this point as a ruse. I suspect Saban & Kiffin had discussed him moving on before, Saban told him to stay, and then when the prep and result didn't look good vs Wash, Saban knew he needed to get rid of the liability.

I took away two things from this change:

1) Bama admitted they have issues on offense
2) They know they better bring their entire A game on Monday night. Defense alone won't get it done

Would Saban have changed OCs against a lesser opponent? Highly doubt it. He had the chance to do it vs Washington and didn't. We are in their heads. Go Tigers!

No. Saban is all about controlling the message

and this is clearly a distraction (even if it would just be a ruse).

But it really won't have much of an impact on the game. They still have the same Jimmy's and Joes with the same strengths and abilities. They are still going to run the same playbook.

field...

Can't rebuild an offense in a week...especially after 14 games already...

Has to be about game-week prep and in-game playcalling.

Jan 3, 2017, 1:41 PM

Like you said, they can't change the offense. But they can use different parts of the offense already installed, at different frequencies.

it gives the coots an excuse when they..er..bama loses.***

Anyone who lost to Pittsburgh, nearly lost to Auburn, and should have lost to NC State and for Gods sake Troy, is not someone Saban needs to try and trick. This will be a beatdown.

Ok, Bama homer comes over here to stir things up. That's fine, all in good fun.

But there's one season statistic you should keep in mind.

Out of 128 teams

Alabama ranks 108th in Tackles for Loss Allowed.

Roll that up in your tide and smoke it. ;)

Re: Anyone else think this Bama OC drama is all window dressing?

Jan 3, 2017, 4:26 PM

Yes I do. Nick Saban is cagey smart as is Dabo. I thought that Jadar Johnson's comments about TJ Barrett's throwing ability was no accident.

The Saban-Kiffin drama is just as you say, window dressing designed to confuse if taken seriously.

Remember we're talking about Saban, the coach who studied our film so thoroughly that he spotted the tendency of our kickoff receiving team tendency to cheat inside 10 yards off the sideline. Hence the onside kick they practiced worked to perfection.

I do not... I do not understand how this drama helps Bama at all. Sark has no relationship with Hurts and against a complex defense this will have a major impact. In my eyes one week is not enough time to help with audibles and adversity with a freshman easily rattled quarterback. It is not like Tom Brady changing OCs the week before the super bowl. Remember Sark has not been allowed to coach or work with Hurts until yesterday.

We will run zone blitz schemes that will confuse Hurts into making mistakes. Sark without a good relationship will be slow or inadequately adjust late causing Hurts to lose confidence leading to zero success in the passing game. Kiffin was fantastic at making adjustments and calling the correct plays in certain situations that caused D-Coordinators to be on their heels. Sark will not have the same ability having been out of playing calling for over two years now.

More illegal motion and Oline holding penalties?

12 men on the field, delay of game......I hope so!
