Anyone else on here attend the 1994 Pink Floyd concert in death Valley

Apr 24, 2021, 5:27 PM

and have a story to share?

Mine is this: My date for the concert was so wasted she fell down the steps across the intersection from TDs and twisted her ankle really bad. She told me she couldn’t walk and would have to go back. I told her I’ve waited my whole life for this concert and there’s no way we’re going back , I put her on my back and carried her from that intersection all the way into Death Valley, and Most of the way back after the concert. Was worth every step.

and came to my senses when I saw lights coming out of a pig's eyes. I remember taking a leap from the shrubs in front of Hardee's and rolling down the hill. That's about the extent of my recollection of that night.

I remember those days, people used to be cool back then. Now we are all a bunch of suspicious, neurotic psychos.

Cdixon, did she reward you afterwards for all your hard work? Yep, being nosy.

Ain’t that the truth. I never, perhaps naïvely, worried about my safety in those days, now I looked over my shoulder everywhere I go

Not going is one of the biggest regrets of my life.

Apr 24, 2021, 6:22 PM

I'd been married for less than a month, just back from honeymoon, and guess I just felt like I just shouldn't go. What a mistake. All of my friends went, none regretted it but, instead, said it was among the best concerts they ever attended <img border=">

Didn’t go to that one but , went to a U2 concert there. Can’t remember the year but it was awesome.

That was '97. Rage Against the Machine opened for them.

Apr 24, 2021, 7:21 PM

There was a good run of concerts in Death Valley in the 90's, which ended with the George Strait festival with Tim McGraw, Dixie Chicks and Kenny Chesney. Elton John and Billy Joel was also thrown in there one year.

Tons of folks (especially students) liked Rage

It wasn’t until much later the southern fans learned what machine they were raging about.

I went to that show, maybe 10th row back. Too baked then and now for any specifics.

I also went to the show at Veterans Stadium in Philly a few weeks later with my brother and best friends. Also too baked then and now for any specifics.

Saw Floyd in 1973 in Charlotte after the release of Dark Side of the Moon, while the light show was typical of the 70s, the music was - well, I would still say Moon was the apex of a distinguised discography.

Wow that’s pretty cool, The death Valley concert was the “Division Bell” tour, while the show was still good, that album was really just a Gilmore solo effort that was not very memorable

older brother of a good friend went, and clued us all in to this new album coming out by a band we'd never heard of. He said they played a few songs of their previous stuff, but then announced that the rest of the show was their new album, played completely start to finish. Wow. Just wow. And then the DSOTM album started popping up in record stores...

I was there! Great show!

Apr 25, 2021, 9:35 AM

I don't have any stories to share, but I remember how cool it was when they played Money and the surround sound setup they had around the stadium was moving the sound of the cash register(or whatever that is) around the field at the beginning.

Didnt see Floyd, they were after my time there.

I did see Chicago play in 1989 from the top of a Mac truck trailer
I came home early from thanskgiving break to see the Stones playing tje "steel wheels" tour. Was not that great, alot of yelling between jagger and Richards. Camping out for those tickets was more fun than the concert. We were in tents on the street in front of DV. Missing classes, drunk for about 2 and a half days, running back to the Stone for beer/####/food.
Saw Ozzy, Alice in Chains and Clint Black in Littlejohn. Ozzy was the BEST concert, Alice in Chains was wild - the frontman had a two gun holster on, tequila in 1 and vodka in the other, in a foot cast and climbing the scaffolding.
Yeah, the old days

Of course... it was a totally surreal experience for me personally...

Apr 25, 2021, 2:28 PM

I mean, Pink Floyd is gonna play in Death Valley, the hallowed ground where I've watched Steve Fuller and Jerry Butler hook up for TDs, and saw Jeff Davis stuffing Herschel Walker for no gain? How is this even possible? How many planets had to line up for this to possibly happen??? The walls of the 2nd floor of Norris Hall probably still reverberate with their music, after 4 years of me blasting it in the 70s...
