From what I understand, by technical definitions, they did go into space. But I don't think they're allowed to call themselves astronauts, by whatever definition that is. My opinion, with today's knowledge and technology, that if you're not in orbit you're not "in space," but nobody asks me. Well, you did. Sort of.

William Shatner shows the same class we do at many of the horse shows, he wins mostly because he’s William Shatner. The video says it was a horse race, it wasn’t a race but a show with speed & judges that make the call.

He said his quick ride in space was like going from life to death & then back to life, that’s profound.
