I already said I barely remember. I know for a fact that I walked past a soccer game on my way to the Gameroom. LOL I guess it could have been in the afternoon!

Well I can prove I was a sophomore then...you can believe that I watched a few minutes of the game from the steps at the back of the Y or not...I know the truth (just not the details)

Huge crowd; 9,000 I think. Very loud and excited. Eric Wynalda was a Freshman & leader of San Diego State. We had Bruce Murray. We scored with about 2 minutes to go to ice the game at 2-0, and it was a wild celebration from then on. Unforgettable experience.

We played UNC in the semi; blew them out 4-1. The 1984 final in Seattle (Kingdome) was at night, on ESPN2. Dramatic win in that we scored with about 2 minutes to go on a corner kick to go up 2-1; the final score.

I remember hearing the chant " sd su" the whole game at the final at Riggs field. I think the other 2 teams were American and farleigh Dickinson

I was a freshman at the time. For some reason there was a scheduling mix up at one of the other schools,UNCheat I think, and all final four teams played at Riggs field. Tickets for the whole tournament were 20 dollars. Sat beside Grayson Marshall and several other Bballers. The place was electric for the Clemson games. In the final we yelled "Eric, eric" for 90 minutes straight. One of the highlights of my Clemson years.

I was there-it was amazing-Death Valley Due North. Electric atmosphere. Very sad what I saw tonight-nobody in the stands. Maybe the highest ranked team should get home field.

I was a soph at the time. Bunches of people there. We were doing count cadence, orange-white, etc. had a guy sitting close to me yelling about it wasn't a football game and we needed to learn how to cheer the right way for soccer. When the time ran out someone in one of frat dorms blasted Queen's "We are the Champions" out of their window. The fans were singing along with it. The team of course did a dog-pile and then ran around the perimeter of the field to celebrate with the fans. The scene at the finals remains one of my great memories from my time at Clemson.

My friends talked me into skipping study for a statistics test the next day. I think it was against UNC, and I just remember we dominated them. We would just make blind passes and voila, A Clemson player would be there to field it. Just crazy, crazy stuff...we could seemingly do no wrong. Like we were running and they were walking. I didn't know much about soccer, but it was obvious we were the much better team that night. I think we went on to San Diego where we won it all.
