Any Coach That Would Call a Time Out

Mar 9, 2022, 9:25 PM

up by 2 that allows the opponent to draw up a play and get their best lineup in the game needs to pack his bags and call the moving company.

Totally agreed that was ridiculous. The second he called timeout I lost it.

Yep and still his players were out of place all over the Court . Got to make it hard to inbound that ball in the first place

I agree, what was the reason other than help offense set up a play and sub the guys he wanted in the game.

It’s just not excusable, made 0 sense!!!

I coached HS BB for 11 years. I have a little game experience. No way in heck do you call a time out in that situation. If your players have no idea how to handle a few seconds, up by 2 points, then you obviously didn't do your job at practice. So . .no time out called. You want mayhem for the other team. If they can call a timeout, then so be it. If they can't . .then lets play ball. Obviously Brad had other ideas and how did that work out? I would never call a time out, up ,with 6 seconds left.

It’s easier to score in that situation when inbound the ball and go. You catch the D in a chaotic and uncertain position. It was a good move to call the time out and set the D.

I could agree to a TO IF we had scored from the floor, but

Mar 9, 2022, 9:48 PM

off a FT we'd have defenders back in position. In fact, VT had to keep ppl on the FT lane to ensure they got the rebound. We could have 3 guys back to defend any run-out. Hence, no need for a TO.

I agree that after a free throw it’s not as clear cut. You make a good point.

I saw how well that worked. The D in that situation should be situational and practiced 100s of times so a team can't be given a chance to catch their breath, get comfortable, and set up their best opportunity to score. Make it as chaotic as possible.

I didn’t get it. I can see the advantage after a FG but not after a FT. Still, make those late FTs and we win

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad should have gone with 6 players again

He doesn't need to do anything. I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that will help me pack him up and move him out.
