Word here at DF is we will have a fight on our hands

Choice should be simple...

Go to a mediocre program(UofSuCk)

Or come to an elite program(Clemson)

You would think but lots of chickens around him and he has been a major priority for them for a long time. DF players love Coach Barnes who is his WR coach and former gamecock, plus Kimreys have ties to Dutch Fork.

Kimreys are no longer in DF program. Kyle is at white knoll ( with Nick Pelham ) and Erik obviously at chicken u but they still have relationships with current coaches. Kyle several years with coach Knotts

Yes, Ty and Will can help us. I Coached both of them for many years in baseball

Nah they were just naturals. Will has had the best swing I can remember since coaches pitch. Ty made the diving catch when he was in 2nd grade when we beat Northwoods for state coaches pitch title.

Always wanted TY up at crunch time. Always Mr cool. Could easily be playing QB in college somewhere. Gunslinger

There are many great players but it is just the standard coach Knotts sets. My son was at DF every summer morning about 7:30 am. He always said they won all those titles in the summer. Knotts is the QB whisperer. As I have said to many just go watch a DF practice to see the secret sauce. Theattention to detail is amazing ….

You are referring to Jalin Hyatt. Yes he really wanted a Clemson offer that never came. Antonio is a different player. Jalin had fastest 40 time in nation at rivals combine but Antonio is more shifty and just explodes those first 10 yards.

I know the family well. His mother taught my son statistics and my son played with Jalin football and basketball. Really was hoping he would get a Clemson with offer but was just not in the cards. He started fast at Tennessee but playing time went down about mid season. His younger brother is at IMG

Might not go to either. Ole miss is on his radar. He is waiting on the coaching changes to happen to see if lane will still be there. The kid loves Clemson. The word is his family is upset Clemson offered him so late. I mean it is understandable, the kid got a offer after another kid committed someone else. Not really a good look to the family. Maybe the staff can make it up to them by investing more time into him.

Agree. That is how we have operated and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. For those like Trenton Simpson it worked because his family saw we were being straight with him about California kid and they appreciated it. This Situation some chickens folks stirring this up with family as a big slap in face. I just hope Antonio sees through this ….. and does what is best for him

This is just fwiw, living around Lexington in the DF area, and going to stores and casually talking to folks, the sentiments you expressed is exactly what I've heard... The fam was ticked that we were so confident and to a point cocky on the out of state kids is a very sour taste.

Two actually posed the question to me: what happened to Dabo's policy and statements before of offering both kids and the first one that's all in gets the scholly. Also I've heard there was plenty of room for both. Who knows. Hope he chooses us.

One thing in our favor is the Lexington baseball moms love Monte because he's made the state and the Lexington area a priority... And all these kids know each other.

Imho - a. d a m n rookie coaching blunder. And it wasn't grisham, it was Dabo. Just hope we go portal and not a pwo that Dabo praises as the best WR since sliced bread.

Yep. My sons favorite state title was not the 3 football state titles but his senior year DF state baseball title. River Bluff had been our nemesis so many times and we beat them twice at RB to win lower state… before beating blythewood 2 out of 3 to win 2019 state. That region with RB, Lexington, chapin was brutal. We were 3rd in region and won state title

Don't live too far from the univ of RB. Tried to preface it with fwiw, just gossip. Ppl at church talking, friend of a friend etc. But I do claim the beisball moms.

Part 2 of my comment was purely me venting because we should never thought twice and been on him day 1. And yes, imo, a little short sighted on Dabo's part. He knew a lot of those kids weren't coming back. Degrees, some grad degrees, sliding down depth chart, ala Galloway.

So, it's cool, don't claim me. Although I claim ppl in Swansea, Gilbert, pelion, it's all Lexington to me.... But you're right, I don't claim the new money lake area.

Your gossip is correct about family. And DF student body mostly chickens and working him hard too, along with some DF coaches favorable to chickens

My son played at DF and my daughter is a senior there and was talking to Antonio yesterday. We got a chance but as I have stated throughout this thread …. Work to do

I would have said that at one time but from those in DF program (my son played there with many of current coaches) this looks like a Clemson, Chicken, Ole Miss fight. He always like every player in America had hoped for a Bama offer

Really hope we can get him. To me he would be the WR version of Etienne where we didn’t get the RBs we wanted that year and “settled” for TE. Not to mention it is a position of need. Anyone know when he announces?

Hearing mid- December. First time in a long time I think outcome of Clemson / chicken game could have an affect. Stop the narrative around him that Clemson is in decline. A lot more people around him pushing the chickens but he wants to play for a winner …..and be nice show him Clemson not going anywhere and chickens still little brother

Re: Antonio Williams

Nov 23, 2021, 9:58 PM

FWIW, a poster on a non-TNET board writes credibly as an insider into A.Williams recruiting. I'll attempt to go "Let's Go Brandon" and plagiarize this other guy's post on the other forum.

A.Williams and his family really really like the Ole Miss official visit (which took place prior to Clemson's offer on Saturday Nov. 20th). Kiffen's offense and the treatment that the Williams family had during Ole Miss OV put them in the lead. (Again that was before A.Williams Clemson offer on Nov. 20.)

Auburn was appealing to A.Williams and his family.

S.Carolina was considered to be very much in it by A.Williams, but he expressed concern about S.Carolina's offense inconsistency. (To me, this read like a polite ... but hardly ringing ... 'endorsement' of S.Carolina football and of S.Carolina's chances with him. You can draw your own conclusions.)

As opined on TNet recently, the 'insider guy' reported that A.Williams and his family were hurt by Clemson slow-playing him and with the perception that A.Williams was not a top priority for Clemson. However, the 'insider' reports (again, as many on TNet had done) that A.Williams had become a big fan of the Clemson football program. When the Clemson offer finally came on Sat. Nov. 20, A.Williams was very very happy and excited. However, A.Williams' family is still unhappy about the way that Clemson had slow played their son.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The 'insider' expressed his opinion (this is not true 'insider' info) about Ole Miss which we already know; if Lane K. leaves Ole Miss for some bigger job, then this will obviously change A.Williams view of Ole Miss as a top shelf option.

My own opinion (which hardly represents one as an 'insider') is that with Auburn's recent poor overall performance ... with emphasis on Auburn's poor O performance, and truly mystifying offense play calling, that Auburn's reputation is in question and one wonders how long M.Bobo (Aubie O-coordinator) will be at the school.

The potentially pending unsettled situations at both Ole Miss and Auburn should help to elevate Clemson in A.Williams' perspective (and also in the opinion of his family).

Again, FWIW.

Re: Antonio Williams

Nov 23, 2021, 11:08 PM

I'll be the first to state no insider info but I am ticked that we weren't one of the first to offer.

If Dabo really thought all these kids were going to hang around no matter how the season played out, that's mighty short sighted. Which I don't think he is btw, then it was no reason to slow play the offer. I liked him first on the board anyway.

Re: Antonio Williams

Nov 23, 2021, 11:15 PM

Let’s just see what happens. Didn’t hurt is with Trenton Simpson and Cade klubnick (both 5 stars) who we were straight up with that offers were contingent on what other priority players did.

In end they appreciated the honesty and just wanted to be Tigers. !!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Antonio Williams

Nov 24, 2021, 8:23 AM

This is the same point I would make. That Dabo is always upfront with these type players and is honest with them about the plans. However, if you have a prideful parents looking to gain from NIL for their children, being a second fiddle could drop your NIL value at that particular school unlike the school that really wants you from the beginning. NIL is now and will be a major factor for this kids and their parents.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Antonio Williams

Nov 24, 2021, 8:40 AM

Not in agreement that NIL value is diminished for players who were not 'offered first.'

What really matters is the buzz around the player's anticipated performance.

To some degree, those players who sign later on will get more publicity from the recruiting services, which subsequently creates more buzz.

I hope we land this young man but the reality is if we dont there are plenty of good slot receivers in the portal who would love a chance to play at Clemson. If Williams wants to play at CootU or FSU or other then best of luck to him
