What Krzy is trying to say is that Biden

is so incompetent that he and his administration couldn't determine how to reverse course or come up with a plan on their own. They took Trump's half-planned withdrawal and never fully vetted the whole idea. They only had 8 months to figure it out. So yes, its ALL Trump's fault.

without a means to defend themselves, then we'd look even worse.
The fact is, there was not a good withdrawal plan, ever. Lots of top brass in the military are looking quite stupid right now, and no, I'm not absolving the Biden administration in the slightest, but to say it's 100% on Biden is foolish.

You simply cannot conflate that with the rest of the mistakes we've made over there for 20 years. I mean, from the reports I've read we did pretty much abandon them at Bagram.
There might not be a good withdrawal plan, but this is about as bad as it gets. Almost to the point it makes one wonder whether this administration is domestically controlled. China seems to be going behind us and mopping up the board lately.

I think it is pretty well understood that the president is just a guy that signs sh>it, and gets on TV and tells how awesome things are. it is on the military leaders that planned the withdrawal, and the ball was most certainly dropped. When we left Iraq, we destroyed all of the military vehicles, that obviously was not done, and I think a room full of 5th graders could have come up with a better exit strategy. it is on Biden to admit that we done f'd up, and you will never see that happen with a US president. it is also on Biden when he thought that he could trust the Taliban when he tried to negotiate a peaceful withdrawal, and took them at their word.
It is their country now, it always was. It is an unwinnable battle.

I heard a military type explain that Bagram is a 45 mile drive from Kabul, evacuating people to the base would be an even worse logistics nightmare.

I don't think Joe is really making any important decisions. However, if there are not repercussions for the people overseeing this, it's going to have a huge ripple effect across the world. Seems like we're on the cusp of a complete re-alignment of the world order we've always known, and I don't think that will end up going well for anyone.

I do agree that whatever military/civilian personnel is in charge of the withdrawal should be demoted.
And Joe "The Buck Stops With Me" Biden should hold a press conference and say, look, that #### was bad, it was not implemented well, these steps have been taken. We are now out of Afghanistan

UK parliament has censured Biden. As far as I know that's
Aug 26, 2021, 12:45 PM

a first in history. Several reports indicate they would not back us militarily as long as the Biden administration is in place. Saudi has signed a military pact with Russia. China's been prodding Taiwan for awhile now and is openly trolling them saying US won't help you. And they probably aren't wrong. You know Japan and South Korea are thinking the same thing. Japan has been rearming for a little while, but now they have leaders outwardly saying they need to be more self sufficient and not rely on the US.
As this was really starting to unravel, the administration went radio silence for like a week. No calls with world leaders, no press conferences. That's a weak look, and our EU allies are openly saying as much.
Now if you're thinking "great, we don't want to be the worlds policemen anymore" you are right to a certain extent. However, showing this amount of incompetence and weakness paves the way for someone or something to replace the dollar as the worlds reserve currency.
That's probably the long term worst case scenario. However, I would look for China in particular to start escalating things with Taiwan through the end of the year, and Russia to start encroaching on territories it wants in the not so distant future.
All of that is aside from the fact that this withdrawal isn't even over, and still has the potential to get much worse.

of this plan.
Trump shares blame for the plan. Biden takes sole blame for the execution of the plan/not adjusting it.
The last 4 administrations share blame for still being in Afghanistan.
Trump takes sole credit for setting the ball rolling on getting out.
Biden takes credit for ripping the bandaid off and actually doing it.
