The world has gone to hail in a handbasket since i saw President Dwight (I Like Ike) D Eisenhower in Charlotte around 1952-54 when his Ford convertible turned off South Blvd onto East Blvd with top down and his car was about 6 feet from me..on way to Freedom Park for a speach.

Lots of bad things have happened since those Good Days!

It's not the least bit surprising. To get viewers with so many choices available, you have to pander to a dedicated base.

And the blame is not with the purveyors the information and disinformation but with ourselves. Everybody needs to feel he or she is right and if we seek out only confirmation of our opinions, that's what will be provided and even trumpeted by the outlets whether there is a basis in fact or not.

Take politics for example. Both parties lock in a base founded upon a few dearly held beliefs. Once you are in because that issue or small set of issues overrides all other concerns, the parties are then free to package what drew you in initially with whatever other ridiculous swill they are paid to push. With all the issues out there in addition to your pet issues, that takes a load of non-stop hammering on the notion your team is right about everything- which is a virtual impossibility.

It's comforting to us, whether right or wrong, to access so many sites or channels that make us feel we are smarter than the other half of the country and very profitable for those peddlers who massage our delicate egos.
