Stats & Storylines: Offensive implosion in Raleigh
The defense made their share of mistakes, namely a bevy of silly offsides penalties, but they deserve their due credit for another overall impressive performance. With the offense putting them in an unenviable situation – and now hampered by injuries – they won’t post the gaudy numbers they could have, but they deserve kudos. Now, let’s look at the offensive issues that are plaguing this team. Full Story » |

performance in Raleigh and not a single member of the coaching staff mentioned, and playcalling mentioned in the most passive ways possible. It's amazing how much local media walks on eggshells covering this staff.

We not looking at this in the correct context. We have a brilliant OC with a great scheme. Not his problem that the players just can't execute. We'll be dyno mite once the guys start executing.
Collins had to be punished for his drop and not targeted again. Same with Shipley. He's a freshman and has to learn how to catch the fastball.
TE realized in game prep that State has real tall dline and backers so the middle was too risky because they're really good at batting balls down. Ghesh, got to understand if we can execute we'll be a good offense.

This is the right take
Even with RG3's comment, I was like: Really dude? I mean an OC's playcalling based on the limitations of the QB would have been case No 1 with Washington in the 2010s.
I think that what DJ can do and what can be called is so very simple there isn't any thing any playcaller can do. You can be creative as heck but if the players can do the creative stuff why call em?

That was one of your best explanations of what's happening with our offensive woe's to date, and we really should be a grateful fan base that none of our problems has anything to do with coaching, and our OC has done the right things correctly. I am so thankful that I have a better understanding of what great coaching is suppose to look like!!!

In order to get the running game going, why not use a 2 WR set with 2 TEs...

That’s true to some extent. But it does offer more options for double teaming a DE or DL and at least getting a RB to the next level with a little space to make a move on a LB or safety and maybe pop one for 10-12 yards a little more often.

Look at DJ fundamentals. His feet are not square to the target. Front shoulder should point to target, should step to target etc. No way make consistently accurate throw with those fundamentals

Isn’t that what they are paying the QB coach for. To help the QB improve.

We have been spoiled for 6 years with QBs that were championship ready. What is baffling is that after DJ set a high bar for himself after the BC and ND games, he fell off the cliff. Maybe he is a work in progress and the loss of ETN and last years receivers exposed his weaknesses. It’s like when the coot Todd Ellis had Sterling Sharpe he was lights out but after Sharpe left old “cycle out “ was mediocre at best. We might consider rotating QBs to get a better runner without sacrificing passing given DJ’s horrible passing stats. It is apparent the coaches think DJ is the best we have and don’t want to throw him under the bus.
