Almost had a PTSD moment this afternoon

Mar 29, 2022, 10:57 PM

Didn’t know SiriusXM was having a tribute to Vietnam Vets & heard a news clip and a song from 1969 that I had never heard- just called “Vietnam” by Jimmy Cliff (also not familiar to me). But I was in the Army almost all of ‘69 and had little chance to listen to the radio- really was weird hearing that song for the first time today.

I can only imagine what you guys went through.
Thank you so much for your service. All Vietnam Vets have a special place in my heart.

popped up now and again over the years, never really hit it big. I had to look him up, he's still alive & kicking at age 77.

And we could wish that Johnny Winter was "Still Alive and Well."

I actually went to a Johnny Winter concert in Charlotte in the '70s because my GF at the time was a fan.

Jimmy Cliff is one of the most influential reggae artists of all time. He’s a national hero in Jamaica. It’s difficult to get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame without “hitting it big”…

Clover, Thanks for all you did and continue to do. I always look forward to your posts. I finished Clemson AFROTC in 1969. I ended up on the ground flying out of Thailand - comfortable and relatively safe, but it gave me the greatest respect for you guys on the ground slogging through the rice paddies.

Thanks very much for your Vietnam service. Can't completely comprehend the extreme hardships you and all the others faced there but reading your earlier posts provided good insight. Lost a couple high school classmates, a neighbor and a cousin's husband later from the results of agent orange exposure.

Yep clover65..thx very much for your service & personal sacrifice!

I was a Navy Corpsman trainee in 1960 and we were scared to death of maybe serving in Nam and being shot on purpose by snippers when we would run over to offer medical help to a fallen American soldier.

I was a lucky one to stay in States!

Salute Sir to you & your comrades!
