All there really is to say, is, Thank Goodness we had that

Dec 29, 2021, 9:40 PM

defensive touchdown. As good as ISU's defense may have been ranked, with ANY QB who was an adequate passer OR RUNNER, this game would have been over in the third quarter.

Even Ray Charles could see that the coaches had taken any downfield passes OUT of the playbook. And, you held your breath on ANY pass, because you knew it could be ANYWHERE. Even with the "softball" passes the coaches were calling, DJ still managed to throw a pick. And, only the leaping ability of Collins saved another one. Yes, there were a couple drops, but with the plays that Streeter felt constrained to call, the execution had to be perfect just to stay on track and BARELY make first downs.

So, we limp into downtime with a win that was a microcosm of the season as a whole. Closer than it should have been, because the offense was, by choice and by necessity, totally vanilla.

I pray that Cade Klubnick will be all we hope he is, because if the DJ era as a starter is not over, then next season is going to look EXACTLY like this one. And frankly, that would be a total disservice to all the other talent on this team. If you had given Watson or Lawrence this same team, with all the receiver issues, we would be in the CFP right now. Not a doubt in my mind. QB is the ONLY position that kept us from being there, and could keep us from getting there next year.

Sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings, but it is what it is.

I think Tiger Band should get some credit for that last TD.

I’m glad we won and the season is over.

Dec 29, 2021, 9:45 PM

Barring injury, I’m not concerned one bit that Cade won’t be the starter over DJ.
My mom would be the starter over DJ.

Does your mom have any eligibility left?

that DJ needs to make a huge leap between now and next September. Schedule is lighter to start the year so I think he gets first crack, but Klubnick will play early and often, and I don't think Dabo or Streeter hesitate to make the move to him.

I hope DJ makes the leap, but I'm not counting on it

We need some dependable WR's also. Hope the freshman can help us.

If DJ ends up needing surgery (finger and/or knee), Klubnik might be the leader coming out of spring ball.

It won't be over that early, at least publicly***

I think it gets strung out because there will be no rush to push DJ to the portal by May 1. There’s no need. We have a lighter early schedule, and Klubnik will get meaningful snaps. If Klubnik wins the job,in the first few games I think it will play out much like the Kelly-Lawrence situation. The question will then be whether DJ shuts down his season and transfers, or does he fight to get back on the field.

I do not think this should be his job to lose ... he has already lost it. There is no confidence in him and no reason to believe after 2 years in the system he will make significant progress. He is the worst quarterback in our program since the late 60's. We probably will not use the portal, so this team may poop out from sheer attrition. We cannot have walk-ons and mediocre players starting in a championship team.

Again if he is starting ahead of Klubnick at any point next season it means he’s a bust and a bigger one. No way he doesn’t start day 1 if he’s the real deal. Those coaches do not owe California DJ a #### thing. He’s had the keys to the car and totaled it. Fixed it back, and totaled it again.

I've been hesitant to criticize our QB all season, but I dunno. May sound weird, but I hope he has some internal spleen injury or something we are not aware of that is causing him to play so gingerly and "scared". The phantom pressure when there's no one around is still concerning. I'm still pulling for him, but the off-season should be interesting. Sometimes you gotta just yolo it. If you throw a pick, do better next time. I remember when DW and TL played, even Boyd. They may have multi interception games, but I wouldn't realize it because they had 400 yards and 4-5 TDs to offset it

Anyway, awesome team win, short handed against a scrappy team. So much better to have 10 wins and be top 15 instead of 9 wins and probably unranked.

And props to ISU and QB for a scrappy effort minus a couple of good players.

That being true, I have never been in favor of holding 21 other starters hostage due to propping up any player, especially a QB, so the team cannot compete to their maximum potential.

DJs issue is ball security!!!!! He doesn't know how to take care of the ball. If he took care of the ball this season it would be way different.

His issues are all above the neck and I'm fairly confident that they will not be correctable and I sincerely hope to be proven wrong. We don't want to go into next season with a true freshman as the only legitimate QB on the entire team.

Ball security and the lack of speed, mobility, accuracy and the ability to competently audible.

The Tigers aren’t “limping into” the off-season. One of Dabo’s 5 goals is to win the closer to have momentum going into next season. You can put your tail between your legs and limp whatever you need to but the Tigers are sailing into next year in a positive note! Go Tigers!!

Feel bad for him but DJ is a bust—was rated so high because he was huge in 8th grade with big arm—but he never really developed—way overrated in HS. Should probably try tight end —he just cant read defenses and accuracy is horrible. Even the backups we played in ACC were better. Coaches all know it just like we do—it’ll be like Bryant and TL coming and replacing him— will be a repeat of that

So proud of this team for going 10-3. That being said, we won all of those games “in spite” of our quarterback. I hate it but it’s a fact. Can’t imagine the job isn’t wide open.

I don't have much to say except for "No matter what they found a way to win". Good, bad or ugly got to give them credit for "finding a way".
