Ajou Ajou

Has he been injured like all our other Wide receivers? I was thinking back to the Wake and SC Games and realized I never heard his name and the fact that Will Swinney and two true freshman were starting over him is very telling if he was healthy. I had high hopes for him this season.

Old Red Parker description describes him best. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane and smells like Cheetah.

I've heard he's finished at Clemson. Work-ethic and committment aren't where they need to be.

Ajou didn’t know the playbook, didn’t know how to block, didn’t know how to run routes, and didn’t look like he cared to learn.

I think the experiments of lesser known players, first year players and walk-ons has run its course. It seems to have caught up with us the past few years. There's a ton of great 3 star players locally that are missing an opportunity due to a walk-on from DWD or a coaches son filling our bare minimal allotment.

This response makes no sense at all.
The thread is about Ajou Ajou who was a recruited player ranked more highly than any WR prospect in the state during his senior year.
For whatever reason he has not worked out at this point.
What does that have to do with giving players from DW Daniel a spot on the football team?
3 star players aren't paying their own way to come to Clemson over the opportunity to take a scholarship elsewhere, so taking walk-ons has zero effect on their recruitment.
If a 3 star player called the coaches and asked to walk on to the team, they would gladly take him with open arms.
Whatever local guys you are talking about just aren't good enough to get an offer.
Also the knock on first year players is pointing toward Ajou not working out I guess.
For every Ajou that our coaches took a chance on and miss, there is a Ruke Orhorhoro that looked like a monster this season and had essentially the same level of experience when he arrived at Clemson.

We did take a lot of project players in that 2019 class

And it seems like most have not panned out.
Actually, just a ton of misses in that class in general. If you go back and look through those 29 signees there are only a couple of impact players and a handful of other contributors while many have transferred, been constantly hampered by injuries, or just plain didn't pan out.
We got into a very odd position that year needing to sign huge numbers after bringing in tiny classes the previous two years, and we just didn't get nearly the same quality and hit rate that we got in other classes.

We have lost players from that class because we took roster fillers that year.
Once we recruited over them in the classes that followed, many of those guys looked elsewhere to finish their career.
You can't call players who are constantly injured recruiting misses. There is no way to determine that type of thing when you are scouting a player unless they have major injuries in high school. The injuries have just been really bad luck.

There weren't many receivers that did know who to block or how to block. Wasn't just Ajou. He just seemed to be the worst at it. I think the Tyler Grisham experiment isn't working out.

He was very raw when he got here, has a lot to learn especially how to block, but did make some nice catches during the year including a big 3rd down conversion at Pitt.

He’s only been playing football a few years. Needs to learn how to block.

Man that’s a lot of wasted raw talent. He’s got the athletic ability to be a beast. Sad that some of these boys waste it due to not putting in the work.
