Against a spread offense you normally defend the slot with

your 3rd best CB or a LB. With Ross in the slot I do not think that bodes well for the doggies. They will probably just try to keep everything in front of them. That is standard Kirby MO. We will need to just be patient keep dumping the short stuff and mix in jet sweep and RPOs. The shots will come. Got to be patient.

Even if their DL pushes our OL around some, throws to the slot can easily occur before any pressure.

Looking at that depth chart, if everyone can stay healthy, I think this is one of our deepest WR rooms in recent history. You take out Ngata, Ladson, and Ross, and replace them with EJ, Ajou, and the Collins Towers. Thats gonna be tough for anyone to stop.

Don't focus on his number of catches from last year. Everyone said and we all knew he was very raw coming into the program. To me, Ajou seems crazy athletic and is a rather large frame that will cause problems for secondary players. He might amount to absolutely nothing, but if you watch how he moves (not just on the field, but his dance moves in the Michael Jackson video were pretty impressive as well), that's something a lot of guys are not blessed with. I'm excited to see how he progresses.

The fact that there is any talk of the #5-7 WR on the team out to say something. I don't think that anybody is expecting him to be our #1 receiver this year, but I do expect him to have a solid year after a good Spring and Fall.

Their BEST corner is Derion Kendrick

The shots will come, and they will keep coming, then they will come some more, and then Hunter Helms or Tasiun will go in the 4th when DJ's arm gets tired from dropping so many dimes. There's a good chance Justyn will be up against an underclassman most of the time.
Their pass rush concerns me a LOT more than their secondary, and that's mostly an insult to their secondary.

While I do think DK is a good one, and better than some give him credit for on T-Net, UGA's best corner will end up being Kelee Ringo. He's a 4.3 40 guy at 6-2 205 lbs, and fluid as they come. Tore his rotator cuff last year in the preseason, so Clemson will be his first game action.
DK may be better in game one, but Kelee will certainly be better once he gets more experience.

Against 11 personnel, UGA will stay in their base nickel package with the "Star" position usually catching slot coverage duties. SR Latavious Brini (6-2, 210) is the guy slotted for the most time at that position. He's an aggressive tackler that will mix it up in the screen game, but there isn't much film out there with him in coverage. He hasn't played too much over the years as he's been behind some pretty high level guys.
I do like his size against Ross in the 50/50 game and his ability to blow up screens, but his inability to garner much PT over the first three years of his career isn't comforting. This will be one of the biggest determining matchups of the game IMO.

I really want to see Jayln Lay make some catches across the middle and lay some people out. That is a match up nightmare for any defender. A fast lineman sized TE that can lower the BOOM!!!!!!
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!
