After watching Natty replay of line play on both sides..

Jan 11, 2022, 2:02 PM

Clemson HAS to upgrade it’s Oline recruiting particularly with the commit % success rate or we’re not gonna be where we want to be CFP wise.

Yes, we do very well on the D side of the Oline.

I'm a bit concerned with development and maybe assessment of the recruiting we've done. On paper, Tchio was highly recruit... But laid an egg in game performance.

Likewise, figured with the problem we had this year that both Bryn Tucker and Mayes (3 yrs in our system) didn't get much PT. Both high 4* recruits. One was #2 Guard out of HS. What gives.

Yep, troubling but maybe new O coordinator & Oline coaches

will address this unreal & uncompetitive problem with our Olines going back to even the DW4 era.

Yes, they got the job done, particularly in the passing game but Oline rushing has sux overall.

They were good enough to win 2 natties.

They were good enough with two of the best QBs in Clemson history. Keep in mind we did not run the ball well at all against Bama.

Our mysterious RPO is not too mysterious to the D coordinators anymore.

Why does D have recruits ready to contribute day 1? Only O line frosh starter I remember was Hyatt and after 4 years starting he got little attention in NFL. No reason we shouldn’t have an occasional O line 1st round pick like we have seen a few times on D. Maybe selection, maybe development don’t care - not getting it done. Hope Austin can take it up a notch.

Even on the D-Line, some of these teams, and yes, mostly

SEC teams, have some MONSTERS at Nose Tackle. I'm talking Dexter Lawrence sized monsters. Georgia had one in the game last night.

There have only been a handful of teams recruit better than Clemson on the offensive line yet it has not been our strength in decades. Clemson gal is right that it is either in development or assessment.

Averaging 12 wins for 11 years in a row with a minimum of 10 wins per year. How does that equate to poor line play.

We've struggled too hard to establish a run game too often for it to not be an issue. I have no clue the underlying cause but with new blood we can hope to soon see a difference.

Winning those championships and playing for others is wonderful but the team needs strength on both sides and we haven't been as stellar on the o-line.

Our current O line is not in the same class with UGA or Bama.

Ga Ala OSU even LSU has put better O lines than us on the field. If we are going to play with the elites we have to have the 320-340 big guys that are athletic. We have done well on D line and I hope we can keep that up with BV gone. I don’t feel we will miss his coaching as much as his recruiting. I hope I’m wrong.
