ACC Predictions

What do y'all think of the list below.
Atlantic- I think Clemson will outclass everyone, but BC will tough. I think Wake will give everyone but Clemson fits on their schedule. NC State will have another 7-5 or 8-4 year.
Coastal - I think this is the year we finally see clear cut separation from top to bottom. Duke will continue to slide, and GT doesn't win more than 4 games.
(Returning starters) Team - Projected record
Atlantic (14) Clemson - 12-0* (17) Boston College - 9-3 (loses to Clemson, NC State, VT or Wake) (20) Wake Forest - 8-4 (loses to UNC, Clemson, UVA or BC) (19) NC State - 7-5 (loses to Clemson, BC, Miami, Wake, UNC) (17) Florida State - 4-8 (14) Louisville - 5-7 (19) Syracuse - 3-9
Coastal (19) North Carolina - 11-1 (lose to either Miami or ND) (18) Miami - 9-3 (losses to Bama, UNC and/or UVA) (14) Virginia - 8-4 (losses to ND, UNC, VT) (15) Virginia Tech - 7-5 (14) Pittsburgh - 7-5 (18) Georgia Tech - 4-8 (12) Duke - 3-9
*Doesn't include: Justin Ross, XT, Justin Foster or KJ Henry (who started some games)

I mean, the recipe is kinda there...
Alabama returns only (11) starters - 3 on Offense and 8 on Defense. Compare that to Miami's (18) Starters (10 on Offense & the QB) and 8 on Defense and it's interesting for sure.
Alabama only returning 3 offensive starters, and the QB not being one of them is the really interesting part to all of this. Can Miami rattle a new QB? Also add in the fact they are starting over with Bill O'Brien and I can see very conservative play calling in the early part.
Imagine starting with a New QB, RB, TE, LT, WR#1 & WR#2....Bama only returns a starting WR, RT and RG. makes you wonder if they'll get 300 yards in the first game as Miami's Defense should be pretty decent.
On Defense, Bama returns 8 starters, but lost their best 4 players, with 3 of them going to the NFL in Patrick Surtain II, Dylan Moses and Christian Barmore.
But, this is also a defense that ranked 32nd in the country. This is not your 2012-2015 "Alabama Defense" though that they've been in the past. Miami should be able to score 21 on them. Maybe 28. A turnover would work wonders here...
Here's the problem though. Miami was ranked 62 in total Defense last year (Compared to Alabama at 32). On Total Offense Miami was ranked 32nd to Bama's 4th.
Both Miami and Bama's Defense are going to land about the same place, but Alabama's Defense will probably be just a step better all night. The difference will absolutely be what Bama's offense vs Miami's Defense.

In the Atlantic, I think you have Wake too high. State will finish third with Wake and FSU fighting for fourth.
The Coastal is spot on except I would reverse Pitt and Va Tech.

Wake returns 20/22 starters, plus their QB.
They return 84% of their Offensive production (which is 8th best in the country).
They will get FSU, Louisville & NC State, all the teams fighting for that 3rd spot, at home.
- In 2020, they beat UVA & VT on back to back weeks (and only lost to UNC by 3) before injuries decimated the last 3rd of their season.
- NC State's game vs Wake will be their 4th road game over a 5 week period late in the season (at BC, at Miami, Louisville, at FSU, at Wake) - Sam Hartman > Devin Leary
For those reasons above, I gave Wake the edge over NC State.

The Wolfpack is expected to finish 2nd in the Atlantic and "supposedly" potentially a road block for the Tigers because the game is in Carter-Finley.
Wake is expected to finish 6th.
That's what the experts are saying so: "I would go with what you have because how often are those preseason predictions right"?
FSU - reminds me of Miami in that - when they are both good they "ironically enough" do not build their team with "all that Florida speed"! They instead build their team around a solid Offensive Line. The speed is just enhanced by the solid line play! You can never count out the "criminoles" because if they can ever fix that OL they have playmakers everywhere else.
Go Tigers!

Congrats on 7000 TU. I like what you wrote overall. Just my guess, NC State will win the head-to-head over Wake and BC. Nobody outside of Clemson can be trusted in the ACC IMO, so what overall records will be at the end of the year is too hard to say. Everyone else is going to have to prove it, but UNC probably has the best shot at living up to preseason projections.

Boston College seems to do a great job of doing the most with the least. Everyone is calling for them to be a challenge. In looking at their recruiting classes, with the exception of the incoming freshmen their annual rank is around #65.
