ACC Championship Math

Nov 22, 2020, 8:58 AM

Not sure what how the ACC math works so I need some help. If ND and Miami win out (and play all their remaining games) they both end up 10-1 (90.1 winning %). If Clemson v FSU is not played and wins out, we are 9-1 (90.0 WP). Do the two teams with the higher WP teams play in the ACCC game or is that not a determining factor? Thanks for the help.

Read David Hoods article. It explains it all.

Still have business to take care of this weekend with Pitt and in 2 weeks with Va Tech in Blacksburg. We should take care of that business, but let's not get too far out over our skis. Head to head, we beat Miami, so if we win out, we're fine. If we play FSU, that will be very ugly for the Noles.

Would be interesting if ND and Miami went, ND wins and then committee matches up Clemson and ND in the playoff. Clemson goes to playoff without having to play in ACCCG.

What would happen in your scenario if Miami were to win...3 one loss teams with Miami as ACC champs?

Miami does not play ND in the regular season, so Miami

would not be part of the selection. If Clemson finished with one loss, they would play ND, even it ND lost to UNC. Our victory over Miami would put Clemson in for the title with ND with one loss and a win over Miami.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter

A 9-1 Clemson team is still going to be in the CFP even if they don't play in the ACCCG.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
